    How to connect the cables of your Xbox 360 Console

    You must connect the cables properly to run your Xbox 360 Console.

    Here is how:

    Original Xbox 360 console

    • First, you need to plug one end of the cable into the USB port on the back of the console and the other end into an electrical outlet.
    • If you have a wireless networking adapter, plug it into the USB port on the front of the console by using the supplied USB extension cable.
    • Connect all other USB accessories to USB ports on the front of the console.

    Note: You'll have to purchase a power/USB cable if your want to connect the Kinect sensor which you have bought with an Xbox 360 S Console, to an Original Xbox 360 console.

    Xbox 360 S console

    • In Xbox 360 S console, the Kinect sensor cable does not need to be attached with a power plug. So disconnect the power plug portion of the cable if it is attached with a power plug.
    • You need to plug the sensor cable into the AUX port on the back of the console.

    Ya, all Xbox controllers, both Xbox 360 and Xbox One simply use USB, so all you would need is a USB extender similar to one like this:

    The USB extension cable I use to use for my first 360 Guitar Hero controller was purchased from a store that sold computer supplies - Amazon, Best Buy, TigerDirect, etc. It was a while ago so I don't recall exactly where I got it, but those are my typical
    shopping locations.

    I have used it on my wired 360 controller until I purchased a wireless controller.

    Hi, you just need a bog standard USB extension cable. However there are limits as to the length of USB extension cables, somewhere around 5M (16ft) or so for USB 2 and about 3M (10ft) for USB 3.

    Depending on how far you are from the Xbox you may then start to need looking into getting a powered USB hub or some sort of USB repeater which is going to increase the cost somewhat.

    If you need something that reaches further than say 16ft then a USB powered hub may be the best option, you'd have the controller connect to the hub using a USB extension cable and the hub connected to the Xbox via a USB extension cable, combining two extension
    cables ( one from the controller to the hub and another from the hub to the Xbox you're looking at around 35ft total length including the controller cable length.

    Ebay/Amazon or pretty much anywhere are the best options to purchase the USB extension cables.

    Something that may be an issue is input lag with cables of those lengths but until you try it you won't know for sure I guess.
