USB disk needs formatted but all my files are on it. Please help.

Hey so a little while ago i got on my xbox to play a game but once i got on there wasn't any saved data. So i went to my storage settings and it said that my USB needed formatted. The only problem is that my usb has my saved game data on it and i dont want
to lose it. Im sure theirs some way to recover the files i just dont know how. Please help if you can. Thx.

Recover data for Xbox360 from PC

Hello,

I put my games on usb disk and copy them to PC, unfortunely my disk got broken, so i copy folder xbox360 from PC to new usb disk.

But there is a problem.

1. I put new disk in Xbox360 and setup as 32gb, just like old one,

2. I copied files data0000-data0033 to folder xbox360 in usb disk,

3. Again putted disk in xbox360, but when i go to settings/system/mass strage/ i have to setuo again disk and i lost files.

More of it I have in this files my profile and save`s.

Please help.

Files on USB aren't showing on my 360.

My USB is already formatted to my 360.

I've put some songs on my flash drive to transfer to my 360 hard drive, but it claims there aren't any files on my USB. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear it. Unfortunately if you are getting a message that the drive needs to be reformatted there is no way to recover the data. You'll need to reformat for use with the console.

Please note that if you are getting this message that means the drive is getting old and you will run into this again. You can prevent it from happening too often by formatting it on your pc prior to configuring it on the console.

You could also purchase an external hard drive up to 2TB in size for extra storage space as well.

The drive needs to be formatted with NTFS file system

But a question, how is the hard drive connected? USB 3.0 or USB-C?

USB 3 looks like normal usb and often has blue inside the connector. C is a small connector

If it is USB 3.0 it won’t work, the drive connection is too slow to play the game

To format the hard drive go to Disk management, right click on the drive, choose format, and then select ntfs from the drop-down and hit quick format.

Please be aware this will erase the existing contents of the drive

Please download the game again

All content you upload to the cloud archive will be retained

After a few days, this worked for me.

PLease like when this helps you!

-Delete the watch dogs from your hard disk.

-Get a 8gb or 16gb USB disk.

-Format it with the xbox.

-Install disc 1 onto the usb drive

-when prompted use the hard disk to save.

You should be operational.

Is this a disk with an files from an old windows installation?

Have you checked if the disk has a NTFS format?

If the disk is currently empty you could try giving a fast format to the disk
