Hey, guys! I don't have any new update to report now, but they are still working on it. As soon as I know more information or troubleshooting that you guys need to take, I will be sure to let you all know.

I do read this thread (and the others pertaining this issue) every day. Even if I'm not posting, I am reading what you all have to say. That being said, I want you guys to be confident that I will provide an update as soon as I have one.

I apologize, however I didn't state that there was any troubleshooting that I would like you to do. I stated that if I am told there is more troubleshooting that should be done, then I will post back in here. I do not need anyone to do more troubleshooting
at this time. Again, apologies for any confusion around my wording.

If you would like to send in your console for repair, you will need to do so through our
Online Service Center. There is no other way to get a replacement console except through a repair order.

Additionally, I'm working with a lot of customers for
Party Chat issues. While you may not have issues with that, there are others that are and we are working to help them get resolved, too.

As I do not have an update on the situation for the Media Player app, once I do have more information, I will post back in here.

after all this time I truly believe this will never be fixed, the Xbox one to all in one console apart from if you wanna watch anything on a hard drive.

Hey, all! I have some terrific news! If you have your console set to Instant On, you should have received an update to your Media Player app. If you are set to Energy Saving, you should receive the update later today if you haven't launched the app up. Please
test out the app with any of your USB devices. Let me know of your results and if you are still seeing the error after update.

Watched an episode of an anime yesterday with no problems. Plan to tryout watching a movie sometime this week. But for the most part, so far, so good. Thanks for finally releasing an update lol. Just a little nit pick though., can we at least see the patch
notes for updates either online or through the xbox one in the future? I'd like to know what is actually being updated even though these are or can be automatic updates.

Nearly had a heart attack yesterday when I opened the app and there was an update! Successfully watched an entire movie with no disconnects last night. Fingers crossed it's finally been sorted.

I have been playing stuff for most of the day on there and it hasn't had any problems so far. so, at this moment, it appears to be fixed.

Now let's not get ahead of ourselves though, this took 7 months to resolve and i had to endure hundreds of painful viewings, stoppages, errors and Email/Forum/Chats to just get this looked at or for Microsoft to at least acknowledge, this was their problem.

The app is by no way perfect, infact this is only one of many issues with it, but at least i can watch a movie from start to end or pause the file without the app kicking me out and having to fast forward just to see the last 45seconds of the movie.......

Now all we need the app to do is allow it to work in similar ways to the 360 media player where i can jump forward or back in 10min blocks or revisit the file after a day or two and it plays from where i left off etc....

So where is the thread to get the app to work better and resolve all these other issues?

Although a small update but at least an update however I think we all knew Microsoft could produce this already and didn't want to say they had. I feel now that as more and more users are experiencing this issue Microsoft felt they had to now tell us something
and with the mysterious and very slow investigation team taking 6-7 months to watch a media file through ANY device, it seems someone finally decided to do this.

I like the 'Microsoft are not taking the blame for this or acknowledging it is actually a Microsoft issue' line you added to say 'For now, though, we don't need any more device', which implies you are still blaming devices and possibly may require more going
forward or at a later date.

I wish you could be honest and just say, this is a Media Player App issue and it is most certainly NOT a device issue unless you mean that every compatible USB, or external hard drive which can be connected to the Console experiences this issue, then sure,
every single manufacturer of devices are to blame.....I wonder if they would like to hear that their devices are being blamed for a fault in which we all know lies with Microsoft.

Strange how every single compatible device work just fine with all PC's, laptops, Xbox 360's, and EVERY other machine that allows USB connections, but just not the Xbox One........very strange!!!!!!!!!

here is how to reproduce it. go to walmart and buy an xbox one. install the media player on it. then put any downloaded video(mkv, avi, mp4, ect) on a flash drive or hard drive and play all. just let it play for a while and it will eventually happen. it
may be within a few minutes and it can take over an hour. the xb1 doesn't seem to discriminate against any type or brand of drive. have the drive plugged directly into the xb1. if u stream it from a computer thru an Ethernet cable it won't happen. u must have
the drive plugged directly into the console. let me know if this trick doesn't give u the same problems as it has given all of us misses quinzel.

I'm getting the same problem while streaming from my Windows 8.1 PC. I had almost no problems streaming from my Windows 7 PC. It would happen occasionally, but now it happens 2 seconds in. Sometimes files won't even open. .mp3, .mp4, .avi, .mkv. It doesn't
matter. They all close.

just finished chatting with xbox support and they want me to send my xbox one back for this issue. looks like no xbox for 2-3 weeks. has me reminiscing when i had to send the 360 back and forth
