USB Device Unavailable

Since the latest update to Media Player Preview, every 5-15 minutes playback stops as the USB device is suddenly unavailable. I can then reselect the device and access it again for another 5-15 minutes.

was closed. There is no solution or fix for this, the fix is "move the xbox one sticks every 30 seconds or so" that's not a fix. This is still broken and it's really disappointing that MS has not acknowledge this as a fault or committed to fixing it.

The old thread feels like it's been locked and buried to try and hide a serious problem.

Although a small update but at least an update however I think we all knew Microsoft could produce this already and didn't want to say they had. I feel now that as more and more users are experiencing this issue Microsoft felt they had to now tell us something
and with the mysterious and very slow investigation team taking 6-7 months to watch a media file through ANY device, it seems someone finally decided to do this.

I like the 'Microsoft are not taking the blame for this or acknowledging it is actually a Microsoft issue' line you added to say 'For now, though, we don't need any more device', which implies you are still blaming devices and possibly may require more going
forward or at a later date.

I wish you could be honest and just say, this is a Media Player App issue and it is most certainly NOT a device issue unless you mean that every compatible USB, or external hard drive which can be connected to the Console experiences this issue, then sure,
every single manufacturer of devices are to blame.....I wonder if they would like to hear that their devices are being blamed for a fault in which we all know lies with Microsoft.

Strange how every single compatible device work just fine with all PC's, laptops, Xbox 360's, and EVERY other machine that allows USB connections, but just not the Xbox One........very strange!!!!!!!!!

 

Sorry to hear it. Have you tried formatting the USB device on your pc before using it on the console?

 

I am having the exact same problem. I have 2 different usb devices (both formatted) and for some reason they both keep disconnecting after 10 - 15 mins. Sometimes this will not happen for around 30 mins but this was not happening until a week or so ago.
Don't know whats changed - I guess theres been some sort of update that has affected the app. So gutted - I've tried uninstalling then reinstalling the app and also turning the console off at the plug but this is still an issue. Can anybody suggest a fix?

 

I am also having this issue. My 1Tb HD does not move and the connection is fine, however it gets disconnected numerous times within a few hours and since the videos don't resume like they did on the 360 I have to fast forward to the correct spot and it gets
really annoying!!

Please work on this ASAP

This needs more attention Microsoft. I've posted about it several times in the preview forums and they said the issue was forwarded to their tech team. Honestly thought I was the only until I found this topic.

 

I've always had this issue. It consistently happens. It almost seems like the X1 diverts power from the USB ports on occasion, which would make sense as to why the app would think it was disconnected.

 

i am having the same issue on a 1 TB Seagate external HD.

At least it disconnects after 30 min or 1 h but always happens!

At least I know that it is not a problem with my device

 

Had the same problem last night after I turned my controller off it disconnected abount 30 mins in, then with the controller in it seemed like every 15 mins so throughout the last hour every five mins I would move the joystick on the controller and it didnt
disconnect once, im wondering if its an issue when the cintroller sshuts off or then console goes into standby mode after awhile either way this needs to b fixed

 

I sure hope it doesn't do this if you're using a external hdd to play games.

i am having the same problem, i can watch about 30 minutes and them it disconnects from my hard drive

 

The same is still happening to me. Hard to make the One my center for entertainment when it keeps cutting my movies off.
