USB 3.0 Support for the XboxOne

Writing to inquire about the future USB 3.0 update for the XboxOne which is supposed to increase the capacity for XboxOne Game installs.

I was wondering when this feature is enabled can we look forward to being able to have our videos, music, & pictures stored for viewing and playing on the XboxOne?

This would be great to have just like we did for the 360 or like how the PS3 does this. This would be a great set of features to enable for the console and definitely make it the all in one entertainment machine.

I know it already has Dlna support and One Drive also but Most of us have limited bandwidth and don't want to pay extra per month for an online storage solution.

    Thanks,

    Mike

What game to buy with 55.9 gb left

A game is not the solution to your problem. Upgrading your memory storage is the solution. The XboxOne has a non-serviceable internal hardrive of either 500GB or 1TB. You have found yourself in the same position I was in not to long ago. I did some research
and found out that the XboxOne supports 3.0 USB external harddrives.

My XboxOne started as a 500GB unit. Since then I have bought 2 external harddrives: 1TB and a 4TB. I now have 5.5TB of memory storage for games and apps. You can buy them anywhere like at Walmart, BestBuy, or just about any place that sells electronics.
The cost of them is not too bad either. Just make sure that it is a 3.0 USB. The brand does not matter.

    Hopefully, this helps you.

USB 3.0 Support for the XboxOne

OP XB1 has them built it. The USB ports on the system are 3.0. But there only few 3,0 devices will work on the one, And they are made only for the one.

  5. Read the thread properly before you post...

OP; USB 3.0 external storage is planned for a currently unspecified date. Whether or not this will support external media support remains to be seen. I hope so too.

  6. Me too, I would hope external media support is implemented in the future! My X1 TV doesn't have USB support so this would be a nice win for me if they did this.

Yes the whole reason I posted this is for Microsoft and the Xbox team to implement the use for external media, Not just for extra game storage. Major Nelson did say it's coming hopefully in a very soon update, but I don't know about their intentions? I don't
want a locked down external device where I can only put Xbox stuff on it, I want to use the storage as I see fit like on the PS3 which is my current media player. If MS let's me put my own media on my external drive to play on the console then I will only
use the X1. I talk about this to my listeners of my podcast and hope we can get enough support for these features.

You never said storeage on the header. It just says USB 3.0 support. I read it. Baes on title. You refering to the ports. When you don't have storeage on header title. What you thinking get loss. When you titled this thread. It should said USB 3.0 memory
stoerage support. Just saying USB 3.0 support means the port. And not a devices.
