    USB 3.0 flash drives disconnects my Xbox from the Internet

    Hi, I had very strange issue with my Xbox One S. Generally console runs fine, but when I plug into front panel any USB 3.0 flash drive, and I restart or turn on console (with connected USB stick) I lose WIFI connection (2.4 band). System see my Wi-Fi,
    I can type password, but can’t connect.

    When I try to connect to the same Wi-Fi network with 5 GHz band, everything works ok, I can restart or turn on console with USB stick on the front panel.

    Another interesting thing is that I put USB 2.0 memory stick to the front panel, (when Xbox is on), the console works with 2.4 GHz WIFI.

    Second interesting thing, is that the USB 3.0 hard drive work fine when I connected to 2.4 WIFI.

    The problem occurs only with USB 3.0 flash drives (I tried 3 different USB 3.0 sticks).

    It's a normal?

    :)

    Hi there,

    I’ve not heard of that issue, does your USB 3 drive meet the criteria set out by MS in the following link;

    https://support.xbox.com/en-US/games/troubleshooting/console-doesnt-detect-external-storage
    Yes, I read this page, but it is requirements for storing games and apps. I use 64GB and 128GB memory sticks as a media to view video and photos. I try with formatting NTFS, exFAT, still disconnecting wifi. Memory sticks
    works fine, but disconnect internet.

    Nope, your xbox is fine also no need to change your router or anything else just configuration to work on 5Ghz as your modem/router is dual band. I won't call this "normal" either but it is a known issue with certain USB 3.0 devices (not all of them) but
    certainly is not a problem with your Xbox, it could happen with any other device using 2.4ghz band

    Yep, sometimes the broadband noise from USB 3.0 can interfere with connections working on 2.4 Ghz, since the Xbox One S also works on 5Ghz (according to the network specifications) as you specify on your post you can work at that level and everything
    will be fine. I read this article a time ago and some router manufacturers are aware of the problem (D-Link for example)
    So I understood it's no reason to send my Xbox on RMA.
