  1. USB 3.0 external hard drive detection Xbox Series S|X

There have been multiple interviews that have confirmed that as well as the Seagate 1TB expansion card, existing high speed USB 3.1 drives will also work as storafe. However, most external hard drives I can find online, and the one I have (Seagate 2TB
external hard drive - Game Pass Edition) use USB 3.0 connection. Does that mean they wont be supported as a method of storing and playing current generation games on the Xbox Series S|X ?

    :)

xbox series x seagate from xbox one not showing any games when plugged into the series x

    Hi,

Do you still have your Xbox One and does your external hard drive still work on that console?

I have successfully connected both my Seagate 'Game Drive' and my external SSD USB 3.0 drives to my Series S without any problems. All my installed games show up fine.

The Series X/S supports the same external drives as the Xbox One/S/X support. If your drive isn't being detected it's probably become corrupted or has a hardware issue.

NEW 1TB EXTERNAL.HARD DRIVE NOT WORKING

    Hi,

Is your external hard drive rated USB 3.0?

Did you try your external drive on all the USB ports?

If you have a PC or laptop and plug it in, does the computer detect it?

The Xbox One supports all types of external USB 3.0 hard drives, but, could you let us know which drive you purchased please?

My name is Fernando I'm an independent consultant, I'm happy to help

Xbox Series S and X support external hard drives and SSDs in the USB 3.0 standard. Check that yours is compatible, if not, that could be the reason for the problem.

Hope I helped and see you soon

The new expansion card for Xbox Series X

    Hi,

Current external hard drives are USB 3.0 5,400 RPM mechanical hard drives. These drives are very slow compared to the Expansion card. You won't be able to run Series X/S games from current external hard drives, not even the 2.5" external SSD drives either.
But, you will be able to archive your Series X/S games to these drives to save downloading again.

The expansion card can run all compatible Xbox games. Which will be Series X/S, Xbox One and the BC Xbox 360 and original Xbox games on the BC list.

Xbox One and other Backwards compatible games will load a lot faster on either the internal storage or the expansion card than they would if you ran them off your external hard drive.

Microsoft has a video on YouTube showing 'The Outer Worlds' loading in just 11 seconds on a Series X/S SSD, compared to nearly 60 seconds on Xbox One.

    External hard drive not working

    Hi,

External hard drives are not fast enough for Xbox Series X|S titles. Unfortunately you can't play these games off slow USB external hard drives. They need either be installed internally or to an optional Xbox Series X|S Expansion card.
