    Hi, I recently bought a new controller for my old xboxone, it has never been set up and I cant get past the screen on the startup where you connect the controller, I have tried every solution on the internet that I could find. PLEASE HELP!!

    Ok i neeed help!!

    What's the specific error code you see when you try to redeem the other code? The error code will look similar to XBOS-0000 or 0x00000000.Once we have that information we'll be able to narrow the issue down! Urgently neeed help :)

    Hi Ruaad,

    Thank you for coming to the forums today. I'd be happy to help.

    So if I understand correctly you are stuck at the initial screen after a factory reset and can't move forward because the controller cannot connect?

    If you haven't already done so, I recommend
    power cycling
    your Xbox.

    1. Turn off the Xbox One console by pressing the Xbox button on the front of the console for about 10 seconds until it shuts down completely.
    2. Unplug the console's power cable. Wait 5 minutes.
    3. Plug the console power cable back in.
    4. Press the Xbox button on your console to turn on the Xbox One.

    Make sure your controller is fully off before you do this by removing the batteries temporarily. When the console turns on and gets to the screen you need to turn on your controller, hold the BIND button found on top of the controller and then find the BIND
    button on the console found around the left side of the console.

    Give that a try and let us know if it helps!

    Hey there, have you synced your controller?

    You can do it by connecting it via a cable to be 100% sure it is connected to the console.

    If that does not work, try a power cycle by turning off the console, removing the power cable from the xbox and waiting 15 seconds before turning it on again.

  6. Hi, I have tried all of that with no success, I tested the controller with the USB cable as well, i tried it on my pc and it works fine, if its any help the xbox is from around 2016 and the controller is this year so I am not sure if there is a firmware
    issue ?

    Thank you for keeping us updated. We recommend accessing the offline troubleshooting menu on the console. We will provide steps on how to access the menu. This menu is utilized to factory reset, power cycle or apply an offline system update. We are recommending
    this to find out if the controller responds while the console is on this menu. The d-pad of the controller must be used to navigate through the offline troubleshooting menu. If a software issue is causing the problem, we recommend completing a soft factory
    reset. This is the type of reset that keeps games and applications installed. This factory reset will remove all accounts from the console. The email address and password of each account must be known before completing this step. Be sure to let us know the
    results!

    1. Power off your console, and then unplug the power cord to ensure that the console is completely powered off.
    2. Wait 30 seconds, then plug the power cord back in.
    3. Press and hold the BIND button (located on the left side of the console) and the
      EJECT button (located on the front of the console), and then press the
      Xbox button on the console.
    4. Continue holding the BIND and EJECT buttons for 10-15 seconds.
    5. Listen for two “power-up” tones a couple of seconds apart. You can release the
      BIND and EJECT buttons after the second power-up tone.
    6. The console should power up and take you directly to the Xbox Startup Troubleshooter.

    Hi, thank you for the advice, I tried this but it does not seem to work, if it helps this xbox hasnt been setup in any way since way back so it only takes me to the screen with the controller on it for startup, is there another way I can get it to the
    troubleshooter??

    Thanks again for replying to keep us updated on the situation. The only way to bring up the Troubleshoot screen is as described by Leonzo above. If the Xbox One you are attempting to use is the Original Xbox One with the power brick on the cord, when
    you turn off the console and unplug it as Leonzo instructed, then you would also need to ensure that it is disconnected from not only the wall socket, but also from the power brick and the console itself. I recommend that you leave it unplugged for a minimum
    of 2 minutes to ensure it completely shuts down.

    Following that, you should then plug everything back in and before you attempt to turn on the console, perform the steps Leonzo posted to bring up the Troubleshoot screen. From there you can choose to reset the console. If you've done this before and
    chose the option to keep your games & apps, then I would recommend resetting and removing everything. This will ensure that any potentially corrupting files that may be on your operating system are cleared out and should get you back up and running.

    Based on the situation itself, since you are bringing up a system that hasn't connected to the internet in a while, its possible that it had an issue with an update and you may also wish to check out our Xbox
    One System Update Solution
    just in case to see if you're able to find any alternate solutions that are available.
