URGENT: 250gb HDD going to loose all data

I have just bought a new Xbox 250gb hard drive and moved all my stuff on from my 20gb HDD and a few USB's now it says format, I do not want to do this as ill loose all my data and stuff. HELP!!!

are these demos or full games on my 250Gb HDD?

i did not buy them, they came instaled on the new HDD. and once i transfer i loose all data stored on the new HDD. unless it saves THAT kind of data from being deleted.

and it also says i need a gamerprofile to move any data, how do i get around that?

Just got a Xbox 360!

Welcome to the forums and the Xbox 360 world Marcus. A 250GB HDD should serve you well, with little need for a second HDD. I had been on 250GB drive since they were released, which had all of my migrated data, dating back to 2005. Only recently in March
did I update to a 360 S and got a 320GB HDD, as I was busting out of my 250GB. Probably too many Rock Band tracks over the years.

Sorry to hear about the HDD issue! Are you using the original Xbox 360 console? There may be a chance that the HDD you're using for the Xbox 360 isn't an official hard drive. Can reference this Xbox 360
HDD troubleshooting article for the full details about this under "You're being prompted to format your hard drive". As it says in the article, try disconnecting the HDD and
reconnecting it. If that doesn't help, you can also try
clearing your cache on the hard drive. Which hard drive did you purchase, does the packaging say a specific brand?

Follow those steps and let us know if that helps!

Yes the xbox 360 slim, and I bought it from a local Game store so its a Real one. You can't clear cache. I have bought a 250gb Xbox HDD but this no longer matters found out that my stuff hadn't transfer and its back on the USBs so just formatted and transferring
content again. Thank you for the help though.

also in the instruction book it says you can only transfer data from one HDD to another HDD only once, does this mean once i move my 20GB to my 250GB i wont be able to move the 250GB over to a slim or "720"?
