Upset over $400 XBox-One vs. $500 Xbox-One with Kinect

"If I had a crystal ball that warned me of Microsoft's potential 180, I would have not bought this system day one".

The crystal ball was there. Their first 180 came only 2 weeks after they officially unveiled the Xbox One when they went back on their original DRM policies. And at first they stubbornly said they won't change their policies on that either.

Given the amount of hate that has dogged Integral-Kinect before and since the release of Xbox One, it was only a matter of time before Microsoft would have to awaken to the reality that it would have to go. Xbox One heavily lagging behind PS4 in sales along
with the fact that no major game developers have expressed any enthusiastic intention of doing anything with Integral-Kinect, all a very clear cut and ongoing sign that the removal of Integral-Kinect was fast looming.

That's why I have still not bothered with Xbox One. To be honest even, even the lower price point is still too much for what it offers compared to what the technically superior PS4 offers. Or rather what its capable of offering, still nothing of note released
on that yet. I'm sticking with Xbox 360 for quite some time to come yet.

LOL! So "internet trolls" are responsible for the demise of Integral-Kinect?

Nah. Microsoft's business decisions are the real culprits here. The business decisions that cost them many many potential sales.

For a $200billion+ enterprise like Microsoft to release a technically inferior console than Sony, release it it in only 13 markets, charge more money for it and try and impose DRM restrictions. Is it really any wonder that there would be a problem in the
sales department?

Given that most Xbox 360 owners never bought the original Kinect, this was another clear sign that it would be a bad idea to try and force potential customers into paying extra money for it with their new Xbox system. Especially when all the big game developers
had no interest in it either.

 

"Technically inferior console",so far no proof.Xbox one can do a bunch of things that other platforms can't (ex: Snap ),also devs doesn't seems to struggle to release games on it,no delayed games.

"All the big game developpers had no interest in it",Most EA games got Kinect features,Thief and Tomb Raider (SquareEnix/Eidos) got Kinect features,.....

Misinformation leads to trolling.

 

It only became inferior when they gave up on the kinect. They had a vision for the product. We will never see that vision.

 

If Kinect never does anything more than voice commands, it will still be worth every extra penny I paid

Do any of you have any idea how cool it is to have your 5 year old son who never talked much before, start talking and trying to change channels with his voice because it is now doable with the kinect!!It priceless my friends,priceless!

 

I will agree with the dude also. $99 for the kinect is a good deal. My girlfriend loves walking past the tv while I'm playing, "Hi Jojo!". And it's a 1080p video camera too.

But I still would love to have seen what else they had planned for it. With the release of the kinect less sku we will never know.

I also love how people overlook the fact that playstation had the same idea...but they were going to include a lower end camera with out all the extra perks the kinect 2.0 has.....same goes for drm.

Sony totally took advantage of the situation.

 

This is a serious question. What were some of you guy's expecting of Kinect? What more could it possibly do to impress.

Like I said, This is a serious question, I'm not having a dig at Kinect...... I'm just curious.

 

I do like & use the voice commands a lot, but past that, I don't actually use the vision. Well, there was a point where I let it sign me in by seeing me but disabled that.

I'm not doing Dance or Fitness so there is no reason for it to actually see me.

I think they should create a little add on that plugs into the Kinect slot and the only function is to have it listen to our voice commands.

Of course the ideal way would be to let us use a headset, but most of the time I'm using VC I don't have a headset on.

 

In answer to goat....I think kinect could be a very important piece of a VR system...

 

I thought it would be implemented into games in interesting ways. I expected innovation. I wanted to see what billions of dollars of research and development could lead to. If voice control (ie xbox on) was all they had planned, I would have much rather
seen them invest all that money into new game development. Heck I think I read somewhere that they spent $1,000,000,000 on kinect advertisement alone. That is far cry 4, borderlands 3, red dead redemption 2, grand theft auto 6, fall out 4 with another $350,000,000
for new IPs. (These games are just examples obviously).
