Uprading from OneS to SeriesX

Hi All--

I'm thinking about upgrading from a One S to a Series X, in order to enjoy the upcoming generation of games, while KEEPING all of my old games, which is important to me.

I have a mix of downloaded-only old XBOX games (such as MaxPayne1), 360 disc-based games (such as GTAIV), disc-based XBOXONE games (such as GTAV), and downloaded-only XBOXONE games (such as AOEII and THPS1+2). So I have a lot of different sources of games, spanning many ages (This is one reason I love the XBOX platform).

My main question is, will all of those work on the Series X? I'm planning to move everything over (including save data) to the Series X using Network Transfer. I want to make sure all of those old games will work, regardless of how they were sourced (age/download/disc/etc).

Also, once I've moved them over using network transfer, what should I do with the old games on the One S? I assume they will not be playable by someone else, if I decide to sell the console, correct? Should I make sure to delete them? Should I test them all on the Series X first?

All of the games will work on the Series X regardless of if they're on discs or digital.

As far as the old console, it's up to you. If you plan on keeping the console, you can keep the games on it. You can still play them there if you're signed into it with your account and other profiles can play the games if you leave that console as your Home console. If you choose to sell the console, it would be best to perform a factory reset before doing so.

So I'd have to purchase the game now on disc to play it on my seriesX?

Is it not available from the store if I use a 360?

I know some games don't show on seriesX but do on 360 store.

It means you have some sort of billing violation. Go to billing.microsoft.com and make sure all of your info is correct and up to date and that you don't have any balances owed. If you can't fix it here, you'll need to call support and talk to billing.

You are not the only one. Several game review sites are reporting that this is a widespread issue. I'm going through the same thing right now and there are no problems with my credit card (I called the company). After calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX and convincing
the CSR that my card was fine, my issue was "escalated", and I am now waiting on a call back (2-3 days). Good luck!

These advisors need to read up on how optimized games play or don't play on a SeriesX/S.

Games that are optimized for the SeriesX/S CANNOT be played from an external HDD and that'll be why you can't load those game.

With the games telling you that an upgrade is available that'll be why you can't load them unless you install them on the internal storage.
