1. UPnP Port Restricted NAT Problem

Ok so before I begin I'll start off by saying that I've got a CGNM-2250-SHW modem/router. Now, I've forwarded the necessary ports and set up the DHCP reservation for my Xbone's IP, but I'm still getting a moderate NAT. When i test The Multiplayer connection
and do the RT+LT+RB+LB trick it says I've got a UPnP port restricted NAT. Just wondering if there's any way I can get my NAT opened.

Note: my ISP currently does not support IPv6...(been down that road already too.)

:)

2. UPnP Port-restricted NAT

Your using 2 routers , the BEC 8800N and the nighthawk ....double nat , either have to bridge the BEC 8800N or hook the xbox to it instead of the nighthawk....you might be able to bridge it yourself if you want to look through this guide....
Modem brand & model number: BEC 8800N

Router brand & model number: Netgear Nighthawk R7000
If you haven't already, you need to phone your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and ask them to configure your BEC 8800N device into
bridge mode. That is if they are able to provide you with this option.

This mode will cause your BEC 8800N to operate as standard modem, which make it incapable of making any decisions that include routing and NAT, which should be kept only, and only, to your Netgear R7000.

Let us know how that goes.
Come on, please try to be more reasonable with your explanations. If it isn't apparent to you that don't know much about this stuff, then it starts now.
For that I'm sorry. I'll try to do better this time.
I don't even fully understand yet the issue I'm having or how to explain it. Which is why I've come to the Xbox forums
And you've came to right place.
I know there are smart people here and I would be thankful for either an explanation of what it is I need to do
Solution

When, or if, you contact your ISP you would have to tell them that you connect an additional router/NAT device (Netgear Nighthawk) into an already existing router/NAT device (BEC8800N). This set up will be the root cause of something that is referred
to as double NAT. You see, not only is your BEC8800N a VDSL modem, which convert between the electrical DSL signals (layer1) and an Ethernet cable (layer2), but it also perform network address translation and map your external IP address to any internal IP
address.

Why I always direct users to their respectively ISP, to be helped to configure their device into bridge mode/transparent mode, would be for two very good reasons.

1. A broad spectrum of service providers tend to customize their own firmware for their networking equipment. Making it impossible for a customer to configure their device in bridge mode, as this option is locked from the customers perspective. In such case,
the ability to configure bridge mode can only be configured by the ISP (remotely).
2. A popular protocol for xDSL WAN service is PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet). Another feature that sometimes ISPs tend to use for the initial process with PPPoE is an authentication protocol known as CHAP, or PAP. This protocol works much like
a door bouncer, where you have to first authenticate your connection to a server within your ISPs network, to let them know if you are authorized into their network, or not. This is done by sending username and password to a pre-configured server/router with
matching credentials. The username and password is supplied by the primary gateway (if configured, this would then be your BEC880N) which make it a PPPoE client. When bridge mode is configured, the username and password can no longer be communicated through
the primary gateway (BEC8800N), and in that case, it would have to be communicated through your router (Netgear Nighthawk).

Explanation

Double NAT is a well known issue when you have an existing modem/router/NAT combo (sometimes referred to as a gateway by ISPs) and then you add an additional router/NAT device into this topology. This set up works for some applications, and for some it don't
work. At least not as seamlessly as these applications are built to communicate through NAT. At least for me it would take to much of an effort, trying to explain in detail how things works and when, or if, they fail in regard to NAT.

I hope you have a better understanding of your situation and that you might have a better way of communicating this issue with your ISP.

Post back and let us know how that goes.

UPnP Port-restricted NAT

I forgot to add one more tidbit. The BEC router is way out of reach for my Xbox to connect to with a wired connection and the wireless capabilities seem to not be working on the BEC device. So if any other solution involves connecting to the BEC router itself,
I'm afraid I cannot do. All the networking is through the Nighthawk.

UPnP Port-restricted NAT

The ISP is local and it's a Saturday. Tech support is already off for the day it seems. Also, I'm not sure what you're saying? I know that the Xbox isn't going to forward ports. I said that I'm trying to open the ports for Xbox Live and they aren't open.

UPnP Port-restricted NAT

Your Xbox One is not responsible for forwarding network ports for any service that it may have running. That's a job for your firewall to accomplish.

UPnP Port-restricted NAT

Bimnog & taidara are correct the BEC 8800N is also a router/modem combo. I use that exact router and if you will make sure it is fully updated and UPnP is enabled it will handle everything great but you do have to get the other device configured for bridge
mode. ALL routing capabilities will have to be disabled in the BEC 8800N.

If you can't get in configured then as Bimnog suggested you might connect the XBOX in the port the Nighthawk is currently connected to see if you can get an open NAT.

Keep us updated. Good Luck!
