"UPnP Not Successful" Error Message Xbox Series X

Hello,

I have had my Xbox Series X for a few weeks now and have had a blast playing it. Just a few days ago as I tried to load up Destiny 2, I received an error on startup saying I had a NAT issue and could not play. As I looked at my settings to see my connection to the internet I saw the error message for the first time, "UPnP not successful". I proceeded to spend the next 2 days searching for a solution and have tried everything from disabling UPnP and rebooting both my router and xbox, then enabling it again and rebooting both again; I've tried Port Forwarding my Xbox; and even factory resetting both the Xbox and my Router. None of the recommended troubleshooting have gotten rid of the issue and I am still unable to play Destiny 2. Is there something I am missing? Do I need a new router?

How are you, mate?

Reset your router to factory defaults and clear your console's MAC in your console's advanced network settings, the console will ask you to reboot.

After you restart your console and router, connect the console to your network again so that the console gets a new IP, take your console's IP and put it in your router's DMZ zone, save and see if that solves the problem.

Thank you so much Samy, that worked! It took a little while to update after making the DMZ change but after testing the NAT type it cleared everything up!

The DMZ may fix this.

To give you the correct steps, I would need to know your router model and search for it, but, I can also give you some directions.

Setting the DMZ:

A) On your Router

1. Make sure to use the ethernet cable connection, it is more reliable than the Wi-Fi one. (If possible)

2. You then, have to assign a static (fixed) IP for your Xbox console on your router, which will enable you to do the next steps

3. Turn on DMZ under the IP you selected for your Xbox Console.

4. Turn on UPnP on your router

By doing that, you'll pretty much have an open and direct connection to the game servers.

B) On the Xbox Console

Configure the network settings accordingly.

Enter the Settings menu.

Under the General tab, select Network Settings then Advanced Settings.

Take note of the information displayed

Select IP Settings > Manual.

Enter the same IP you configured on your router DMZ.
