UPnP not successful, despite me changing nothing in my wifi settings.

Hi, i’ve had this problem for a fair while now (i’d say at least 2 months) and find it very, very irritating. Basically in my network settings it says “UPnP not succesful.” At first i didn’t know what this was so i had to do my research and tried all of the solutions from xbox forums that worked for others, but to no avail. I checked in my wifi settings and found the UPnP section, which stated of course, that it was on and functioning. I even tried disabling and re-enabling UPnP which still did not work. I hoped it was just my Xbox One finally falling to old age and it would work just fine on my Series X that was soon to arrive. It gets here, and no, it’s the same issue. Recently, (for the past couple of weeks or so) I have been able to use Xbox parties and UPnP functionallity perfectly fine, despite my Xbox saying it was disabled in the network settings, and I thought “oh well, as long as it works, i don’t care.” Until this afternoon, when my router ran out of data. I re-charged it and joined my friends party to absolute silence. My party’s were not working again, and still are not as I write this. I cannot express how frustrated I am, does anyone have any clue what could be going on or could help in any way??? Any and all help is much appreciated, thank you for reading.

I also even created different accounts, all of which have the same issue.

I restored factory settings (which took a lot longer than I thought it would) and directly routed it to my xbox with no success.

Tried with the router because why not, also no success.

Checked upnp and dmz settings for both devices, still nothing.

How would you port forward and/or enable UPnP on my router? My settings say "UPnP not successful."

I disconnected the Alexa from the xbox and the headset still does not work. In network settings, it says that my NAT is moderate and UPnP is not successful. But I live in a college apartment where I can not make many changes to the network settings.

Hello ARTeaux007! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

First thing I would do is check to see if your router needs an update. If that's up to date then try the following:

1. Sign in to your router’s setup webpage, and make sure the router’s UPnP setting is turned on. You can usually find first-time help with this in the router manual or on the manufacturer’s support site.
2. Turn the UPnP setting off and save your changes.
3. Restart your console, your modem, and your router.
4. Turn the UPnP setting back on and save your changes. If there’s a Zero Config setting, make sure that’s turned on as well.
5. Restart your modem and router.

Once you’ve reset your router:

1. Restart your console.
2. Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.
3. Select Profile & system > Settings > General > Network settings.
4. Check your settings again to make sure the UPnP message is gone.
