upload bit on the low side

after seeing a French guy change weapons and shoot me last night on ghosts whilst I unloaded a full mag from the fad no more than 6 feet away into his torso I decided to contact activision support regarding lag. They obviously claimed that all is well on
their side and requested a speed test to which I duly obliged. results were 16ping 55.8dl/3.08ul and this is a bit on the slow side according to them.

having enquired a bit further with uk isp's here they all seem to think that around a 1.0 ul is more than sufficient for online gaming. this is something that Xbox live support doesn't agree with though as they told me not too long ago on the phone that
it was a bit on the low side. I am trying to establish if there is an industry recommendation and if not why, we are paying for a connection that may not be adequate for the hardware being bought but no body seems to tell you much about it, games are averaging
£100 plus with all the dlc and this soon adds up to a large sum of money being spent unnecessarily if you are not able to fulfil your potential within an online lobby. I of course connect via Ethernet and it is only me connected with no other peripherals so
it seems my internet is not up to the standard required for todays modern games. or are am I being fobbed off with the hope I will walk away thinking I should now part more money with my isp to improve my connection.

so who can tell me if there is an industry standard and if so what it is or who with their wisdom that surpasses mine on this topic can tell me what is more than suitable to continue with my exploits online without risking tv or controller in frustration
at some guys ability to walk into an area and wipe 4-5 of us out whilst being shot at by all and sundry.

upload/download speed

according to activision support my 3.4 mb upload is a bit on the low side for their games and I am on virgin fibre 50mb, although I have about 54 on the dl but average 3.4 ul. They consider this as the reason I get lag in their games.

 

I keep losing wireless connection every 30 minutes or so but am able to reconnect again straight away.

Where did you check that those speeds were OK? I would say they are definitely on the low-side, especially your upload. When playing online, the sending of information is just as important as the receiving. Try calling up your ISP and see if it is too low
and if they could speed it up a bit.

 

I think it's time to start playing something else.

And you are way above their minimum recommendations.

 

Plus I am convinced there are now players who are now modding Ghosts, as I have noticed various hacks going on including god mode and jumping across the map.

ha, so on the phone they lied or didn't know and blagged, so far though all I have asked are of the inclination that Activision support really sold me one and this is my mission, to blast over twitter their willingness to BS us who keep them in their very
comfortable lifestyles. They must think I am daft, if they were dedicated servers as promised to me for both gen consoles why would my upload matter, I was under the impression it doesn't. but then ask me design a boat and so on and I can just improving my
limited knowledge now on our tech innovations.

Azrael008uk I started playing again just to master prestige on it as I am at about P6 L30 something and I had not been on it in a while.

Parrafin Alien I am sure there is no good going on as I have had people just appear in front of me and shoot me, I sadly sat in a corner one day and someone still managed to appear behind me and knife me.

Had a guy in a lobby the other day who had played somewhere like 3000 + games, had a win streak that was only 2 games less than the total amount he had played and regularly scored 30-35 kills with a couple of deaths. he soon left when everyone was calling
him out on his evident cheating.

I just find it sad that there is a compulsion to do this from some and they always seem to manage to continue appearing in lobbies no matter how much they are reported.

 

COD has always suffered with this kind of stuff - gets hacked to bits and they just ignore the problem and move on to the next release.

Better off switching to the Battlefield series imo.
