Upgrading to xbox one: questions about multiple users and one Gold Account

I want to upgrade to xbox one this fall. I currently have five family members each with their own xbox live 360 accounts. I have been told that if we get an xbox one we will only need ONE gold account.

That sounds awesome, because it will save me $240 a year! But here are my questions . . .

1) does every family member get to keep their own gamertags/ achievements etc.?

2) if we keep our xbox 360's can all five accounts still play on them as well? (all five accounts can transfer back and forth 360 to One?}

3) if my son plays at a friends house can he download
just his gamertag at that location?

4) Is there a limit to how many members you can have on your family? The old Family Gold was 4 max.

Xbox One Price drop

I think so yes but for a single xbox, it takes the single live account and all users can access features behind the paywall as if they had gold on that console.

arthurdentpc has 3 xbox's tho, and the old "family" bundle allowed each user to effectively have their own gold membership, so gold on each user which translated to gold on each console, now its gold to anyone on the single xbox....

So I assume on single xbox families the new system is much better, but on multiple xbox families its not as good. Its not super clear tho how this new gold system will work on xbox one, but it does read like arthur is shafted rather unfairly in this new scenario.Click to expand...

If that is the case who gets to use their gold account on other machines? They've clearly said that. Just like now, your live subscription follows you to whatever Xbox console you use. So who on that original console can take their account to another console?

No family pack but want to set up a second xbox live gold account

There is unfortunately no replacement for this on Xbox 360. If you want multiple profiles to access Gold features, you need multiple Gold subscriptions.

However, on Xbox One there is Home Gold which means all users enjoy the benefits of Gold, so long as just one user actually has a Gold account.

1)Yes. Your account can be used on both systems so you get to keep everything associated with your account.

2) Same as #1. There is no issue using your account back and forth. However, if you do want to play online on the 360 you still need a subscription there. So if you're all sharing gold on the One, any account that wants to play online on the 360 would need
their own subscription.

4) I haven't heard of any sort of limit, but this one I'm not sure about.

Axemator is correct Xbox 360 you need to buy separate gold subscription for each user account to go on xbox live whereas Xbox one all you need is one gold account which can be transferred from xbox 360 and you can then make multiple accounts that will get
gold benefits for free on Xbox one only.

to access Gold features.

If you had a second Xbox One in the house then you'd be able to play online but others, if they were Silver, would not. You'd need another Gold account to make it their Home Gold console to enable that.

So to enable Silver members to access Gold features on an Xbox One, each console will need a Gold account to make it their Home.
