Upgrading Hard Drive from 250gb to 320gb

I recently ran out of room on my 250gb, so I purchased the 320gb. Now what do I need to do? I've heard about the transfer cable, but don't want to go that route, since I don't have the money for that right now and seems kind of a redundant purchase if I
am only going to use it once...

    :)

I can't play Grand theft auto: San Andreas

You won't be able to play any original XBOX games with that current hard drive that you have. You will need to purchase an official 250GB hard drive or a 320GB hard drive from an official retailer (Microsoft Store, Amazon retail, Best Buy, Gamestop, etc).
If you purchase something from eBay/Amazon Marketplace re-seller and it's quite cheap and not in official packaging it's likely that it's a knock off. Since Microsoft never released 120GB hard drives with their XBOX 360 S consoles it's not possible that, that
specific console hard drive was ever official.

Without a transfer cable you will have to move everything one by one manually,to a flash drive or cloud then onto the new drive.

You will not be able to move some items, depends if the game allows it.

  5. Also pointless moving game install as they require re installing to a new device any way

  6. In other words buy a transfer cable, you can always sell it again afterwards and get most of your money back.

  7. I remember when they 1st introduced the new larger harddrives from 20gb to 120gb. They gave those transfer cables away for free

  9. I never personally had the patience when upgrading from the Arcade to the Slim. I just moved my saves to the cloud and re-downloaded what I had already purchased to save me the back and to. The transfer cable is the way to go in my opinion and as stated,
you could probably get 10 for a penny nowadays.

  10. Transfer cable is by far the best way. I chucked mine in the draw (no money to make back, it came free with my 120GB) but they're very easy to buy off eBay and then sell back on a week later at a few pence loss or a few pence profit.

Upgrading Hard Drive from 250gb to 320gb

Well fortunately I had a old usb external hard drive, after reformatting it on the 360 it worked enough to back up almost all the data except for the games themselves. Apparently MS won't allow you to download Marketplace Purchased games. But no biggie.
I didn't even have to use the cloud storage and wouldn't be able to because of the limited size. It's a pain downloading the games themselves, but eh...

So far the hard drive, which didn't come in the original plastic sealed box that MS provided now, but instead came in a small cardboard box that I brought off Amazon, seems to be doing it's job.

Another question: do they sell a 500GB Xbox360 hard drive?

  15. Sounds like you purchased an unofficial HDD. You should try playing OG xbox games that will be a test to check. If you get an error saying that you need to download then your HHDD is a 3rd party device. The maximum official hdd is 320gb
