updating xbox one first time can i use wifi to download it?

Hey there, Wire. That is a great question, and one we've gotten a lot since launch (and before).The way that the update system on the Xbox One is designed, corrupt updates are much more rare than they were in the 360 environment. As long as you have a good
enough wireless connection (Settings -> Network Settings -> Detailed Network Statistics -> Wireless Signal Strength above 80%) then your system update process should work just fine. I hope this helps.

If you are talking about only having wireless available to connect your router to the X1, instead of having the use of an Ethernet (wired) connection , Yes you can. However, it would be highly preferable to have your console wired, especially during such
a big download. Corrupted downloads can occur if the connection is shaky.

If possible - get hold of a long enough Ethernet cable to connect between your router and console.

From memory - the download is something like 500 megs. It's large.

At the current point in time you can only use a direct internet connection (Wired/WiFi) to download the Xbox One's Day One update. The EOU (Emergency Offline Update) page has been removed, and the links are not working.

If you're having trouble downloading your Day One update, please try to make sure that you are directly connected to your Cable/DSL modem and not behind a router and see if that helps at all.

I bought a xbox one today, Installed and plugged it in, connected to the internet using wifi, proceed to download an update but it says There is a problem with this update. You need this update to run your console.

Contacted their twitter support for about 4 times and still not an answer, whilist they answer other people.... Very unstatisfied.
