    There is an article that covers that troubleshooting Xbox 360 updates. In this article there is a section that informs you on how to re-roll
    updates on your Xbox 360. However, make sure that before you do this, you are able to maintain a stable connection to the Xbox Live servers

    Here are the steps to re-install your Xbox 360 updates:

    1. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    2. Go to Settings and select System.
    3. Select Storage.
    4. Enter the following button sequence: X, LB, RB, X, LB, RB, X.
    5. Select the option to roll back all system updates that are installed. The console will restart automatically and then download the updates again.

    the OG Xbox live was a completely different system, when the 360 came out they moved to a new and improved version of live which was not compatible with the og box. the 360 uses the same infrastructure (backbone) as the latest Xbox.
