Updating from Xbox 360 game to Xbox One Game

I am planning on buying the Xbox one around Christmas time but for now I only have the 360. However I still want to play the new fifa 15 when it comes out in a few weeks and I do not want to shell out another 60 dollars for the xbox one version in the winter.
I know last year there was a program where you could update your disk for only 10 dollars but I have not heard anything about that this year and I do not live close to any Microsoft stores.. Any help would be appreciated, I would rather not have to dish out
the extra 50 dollars

Thanks for your post! Do you mind clarifying which Xbox device you are using? Are you using Microsoft edge on the Xbox One? Or Internet Explorer on the Xbox 360?

Minecraft Xbox One

hi

my son has been playing minecraft, saint row, far cry 4 etc in Xbox 360. is it possible to transfer the games to xbox one? minecraft is an online purchase. rest all the discs we bought from Game.

he doesnt want to upgrade to xbox one but ofcourse we are missing out the new features of xbox one and xbox 360 is getting out dated fast and would value for nothing soon.. ihave few consoles left like that and lying in the garage.. (ps2, xbox, psp etc)..

any advice on transferring the games would be helpful for me to decide on xbox one..

those are usually limited time only you will have to check to see if there is an expiration date as it may expire by the time xmas rolls around.

Also, it was up to the Publishers on whether or not they would allow games to be upgraded like that. So you may want to check with EA to see if that would be possible.

A future update (March's, probably) will allow you to see the Xbox 360 Games with Gold in the Xbox One's 'Gold Hub', and will allow you to purchase the game from the Xbox One itself, so going forward you should not run into this. Until then, all Xbox 360
games need to be "purchased" on Xbox.com or Xbox 360, as was the case here.

The Xbox One can't read and run the data directly from BC 360 game discs. The games don't run from the discs like they would on a 360 console.

When Microsoft made these games BC, it took the original games, and without getting into all the technical details, reverse engineered and repackaged them as a digital downloads so that the Xbox One can play them. This is why as Smwutches as already stated,
there is an 'Update' when you insert a BC disc 360 game into your console. This isn't an update, it's actually the digital version of the game.

This is why your 360 game 'updates' are around the 8-16 GB sizes. Still comparatively small compared to the average Xbox One digital game download.

The BC system for 360 games on the Series X will have to work the same as there is no other way to do it.

However, the Series X is architecturally similar to the Xbox One, so Xbox One games will install and play on Series X just as they do an on an Xbox One console.

All BC 360 and original Xbox games need to be downloaded from Xbox Live - even if you have a disc for the game.

You will prompted for an update if you insert a BC Xbox game. This 'Update' is actually the game recompiled to run on the Xbox One platform.
