    Updating Apps


    It was my understanding that with the Xbox One on Instant-On mode and selecting the option to "Automatically Download Updates" That when the console is off it would download updates for the consoles apps, like Video and Youtube automatically. However this
    isn't happening for me I still get the notification that an update is available when I go to open the app. Am I missing something?

    I believe it is for console updates. Games, Apps are handled manually.

    The auto update feature only kicks in at designated times, usually the wee hours of the morning. If the update was pushed out before that time and you login it obviously won't be downloaded yet.

    Apps on Xbox One really are a pain in the backside. You're never told which ones need to be updated if you don't use Instant On, so they can go for weeks or even months without patching if you don't use them that often.

    The worst by far, however, are streaming apps like Twitch and Youtube - if a friend of yours is broadcasting, and you don't know their channel without scouring the Internet or haven't saved them as a favourite, you'll get the "sorry, need to update", meaning
    you miss out because it doesn't go to that channel after updating.
