Updates cause me to install full game?

every time I update a game it causes me to install the full game again, what can I do?

And by the way whenever I try to install it online, it makes me download an update for the game which then causes the error code to come.

a game/title update trying to install at the same time as the base game can cause issues, so if you're getting an option to install an update, there should be an option to select to install it later after the game itself has installed.

if an updates fails to install properly then it can cause a full re-install of that game.

The most common problem is updates. Make sure to decline any updates as it is installing. For some reason, allowing the updates to install while the game is installing causes issues. You can always queue the updates after the base game is installed.

When I try to install the game, it tells me it needs an update and to either update now or update later. Pressing update now causes the same automatic “installation stopped” error as when it requires me to update after installing the new game.

Any chance you are using an external HDD and there is a connection problem? Normally the only time a full re-install is required is if you get a partial update or something causing the update to fail.
