Update on Friend Notifications not popping up? Xbox Series X

I have not been able to receive "Friend/Gamertag is Online" notification for over a month now. I have spoken to several friends who have a XSX and they have the same problem, while regular XB1 or Series S seems to be working (for the most part). I wanted to see if there was an update on what is happening, why it's happening, and if there is a current solution or if there is one being worked on.

Like others have mentioned, other notifications pop up, like "GT invited you to a party (or game)" and I have tried all settings and troubleshooting steps that were mentioned in another thread, that was closed with many other people saying the same thing. I do not have a screenshot since I cannot see the notifications pop up.

Made a post on here and have reached out to support on twitter. Microsoft knows people are having issues and are supposedly looking into it, but haven’t communicated about any updates coming to their support team from what I’ve seen. EDIT: as of 8:30pm central friends list went down. They did update the status page that they are working on it, and notifications are apart of that alert. Maybe when they get this resolved it will finally fix the notification issue we’ve all had.

I've bolded what most people might want from this message. Mine randomly started working again today after months of problems. Now maybe they fixed it today while I was messing around with my Xbox but in case thats not what happened here is what I did. I decided to mess with my Xbox again today and it decided to work. I went to notifications settings on the console and set notification timing to all items even expired ones and proceeded to clear/delete all of my old notifications. I then went back into settings and set it to only items i can open. I then went to Xbox notifications and in the friends tab I unchecked all of the settings then I closed settings. From here I went back in and turned on all but hide banners during video and viola. Not saying this will work but this problem was so annoying and these are all of the things I can think of that I did to make it work. Quick note, I did all of the other recommended remedy's things like a power cycle, hard reset, and whatever else I'm sure most people here have tried in the last few months. Hope this maybe helps someone else!

Gotcha and yea we were trying to play earlier and we had a hard time seeing who was online

You are awesome! Actually, I was going to reply today. I didn't touch anything to my settings in recent weeks, but all the sudden my friend noticed that I got online. He had been having the same issues with friend notifications, so we were both shocked. I ended up signing off/on 3-4 times and each one worked on his and my alt xbox account. His did not work yet, but maybe they are finally getting around to fixing it!

Thanks for the help and hopefully this gets resolved for everyone having issues!

*EDIT* - Friends online notification popped up on my phone just after typing this message. I THINK it's fixed!
