That is so odd... Can you try this:
    support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool
(I assume you are not on the beta, correct?) If not on the beta you will want to use the osudt2. I just want to be sure this is not some crazy CRC related... thing. Please do give that a go, and
let me know. Rock on Radioslave, I really do appreciate it.

    Hi Hermes,

I just wanted to let you know that my issue has been solved. I haven't changed anything. It just started working all of a sudden. That was about two weeks ago. I can only assume that the TV app has been updated.

    Thanks.

Never mind Hermes. The TV app WAS working until the latest system update was installed. The exact same problem has returned (with the overstretched picture on start-up).

I swear I'm ready to throw this Kinect thing out the window. I'm afraid that every time Microsoft releases an update, it's going to make watching TV worse for me.

Update makes TV app 480p on start up

    Hermes,

I'd also like to add that I have NO DOUBT that the reason the TV app is giving me problems is because it loads too fast on start up. Just like before, the TV app only gives me a bad picture when it is pre-loaded in the main window on start up. The picture
loads fine when the TV app is selected from one of the panels below the main window.

Would you please make your technicians aware of the problem I am having? I am hoping that they will consider slowing down the TV app on start-up so that it has enough time to gather the signal information necessary to display the picture correctly. That
is my only hope of getting things to work again. Thank you.

I have this very issue... I simply change the resolution on my directv box. If it is set to 720p (from the last time I changed it) I switch it to 1080p and normal screen appears. If it is set to 1080p I change it to 720p and normal screen. Keep in mind
this should only be a temporary fix. I hope this will alleviate a lot a stress.

You're right Camhawk. Switching the resolution on the DirecTV box fixes it temporarily. You can also simply turn the DirecTV box off and then on again to fix the picture. But you have to wonder what is the benefit of being able to give voice commands
when you have to get up off the couch to mess with the satellite box anyway. It defeats the purpose of having Kinect.

Again, I wish Microsoft would acknowledge this problem and fix it. A simple update fixed it before. I hope another update will fix it again.

Good news. It's working again. All I did was reset my router. I know that sounds weird, but I noticed that the XBox Live content panels were loading a bit slow on the home screen at start-up. So I reset my router to try to speed things up. The next
time I powered up my XBox One, the TV app loaded just fine. It's been working for about two days now. Go figure.

In summary, I think if XBox Live loads too slow on start-up, it can also affect the way the TV app loads. Resetting the router might fix it.

Same exact issue as you guys. Scientific Atlanta cable box to xbox to tv. Use to work perfectly. Issue since recent updates. Cable box set to 720p only and 4:3. When xbox goes to stand by and consequently sends cable box to stand by tye cable box goes to
480p which isnt even selected. Therefore, a signal is being lost while xbox is in s the and by using insttant on mode. Please have app looked into regarding this. Frustrating bc this is main reason I prefer xbox one as gaming system. Btw...none of the other
suggestions worked for me. Resetting routef, going to stand by with different app in main window etc... any ideas from support?

Did you guys figure this out? I've had my one since launch day, but only started to try running my directv through it a few weeks ago. Very cool, but definitely has some quirks. I have a similar setup as the op, though not exact. hr22 receiver. I'm
not experiencing this issue yet, but have noticed some odd judder now and then which led me to do some fiddling.

I assume the xbox one has to convert whatever signal it receives to output 1080p, whether that is 480i/p, 720p, or 1080i. Normally I like to have "native on" and let my Denon avr do the converting, but since the directv is no longer going through that,
the xbox is doing all the work. I don't know if it's the xbox or dtv, but it seems that sometimes a 720p channel is sending 1080i when I switch back and forth between channels that use those two broadcasts. Like I said, I don't know if it's the dtv or xbox
that seems to get locked into one mode, but all of a sudden, a channel that was previously smooth, now has a bit of judder. This is most noticeable on things like sports tickers.

I decided to try sending only 1080p to the xbox one by turning native to off and deselecting all of the resolutions on the dirctv receiver except 1080p. All of the converting is now being done on the dtv reciever and the xbox one only gets a 1080p signal.
I don't know if this is the best PQ, but it does seem to fix the judder issue for me. In fact, even channels like nfl network which had terrible judder on the ticker now appear to be smooth.

Will this help the op's problem? I really don't know, but I'd recommend trying to send only the resolution the xbox is going to output, most likely 1080p, and prevent it from having to do anything with the signal. If I read correctly, sounds like you are
selecting 720p and 1080p. I'd pick just 1080p and native off. If that doesn't work, perhaps everything, 480i/p included.

  11. Hey, Splindicator! What you're describing sounds like something that should be fixed in an update that was pushed out last night. Check to get that update and if you still get the jitter on your channels.

Since this thread is a bit old, I'm going to go ahead and lock it. If anyone continues to have this after the update, please post up a new thread detailing what you're running into and troubleshooting you've already completed. That way we can get you some individual
help. Update makes TV app 480p on start up :)

    Radioslave,

Under other conditions I'd buy you a good beer. You have done everything 100% to follow a reasonable and worthwhile path. My congrats. I do have a question (this is not a however or anything... just, nicely done..). Does the HR24 change the aspect ratio
after the Xbox goes into stand-by (or off) for a while. I am guessing a HDMI delay in the signal is causing the signal disruption. Normally I would say the splitter, but you tested that. For the moment, the next time you see the disruption can you quickly
check the STB settings to see if they changed?

    -Cheers

Update makes TV app 480p on start up

Never mind. It was working just fine for about 2 days, then this afternoon I turned on the TV and it was back to the same overstretched 480p picture. The only thing I did different this afternoon was a hard reboot of my Xbox One. I had to reboot because
My XBox Live screen kept showing those pesky loading circles instead of actually loading content (even though my XBox One passed an internet connection test). After rebooting, XBox Live loaded just fine, but the TV app was back to being broken. I just can't
    win.

I know this is a ridiculous question, but could there be a connection between how the TV app loads and how XBox Live loads?

Update makes TV app 480p on start up

I don't want to jinx it, but I turned my TV on twice today with no issues. A perfectly-scaled 720p picture loaded into the main window with the XBox in "Instant ON" mode. I haven't changed anything. It's just working, at least for the time being. Perhaps
there was a TV app update last night?
