Update loop and XBox live connection

I am having trouble with a few things...

When I turn the console on I am informed my XBox needs a system update. I have run the update multiple times and are still informed I must update or I won't be able to log into XBox Live

I am not connected to XBox Live

I have run a Network diagnostic / Live connection test and found I am connected to the internet but not to XBox Live

I have trouble shot all their suggestions, unplugged XBox, unplugged the modem & router and reset to factory settings

I have found the suggestion that I could update using a CD or DVD.

Question 1 : WTF

Question 2: can I use the CD / DVD option with a MAC?

My Xbox does not find a live account

we can not update our Xbox because it does not connect to our live account. And without the connections the update will not appear. We are sitting in a loop.

What to do?

 

im trying to update my xbox through a cd with the newest update on it but it just says mixed media disk

yes, my console go in a loop it says i need an update to connect to xbox live,if i agree it after a sec of downloading it shows an error page that says i need to connect to xbox live to download the update. when i test my connection to xbox live it says
it fails and says i need to download the update to connect to xbox live, the loop continues also it freezes alot in this process. ive tried manual updatre bu it only says mixed media disc and no download prompt comes up. any suggestions????

Please try clearing your cache 3 times and hard resetting your console after the third.

 

ok try this:

Copy to a USB flash drive

If you cannot connect your Xbox 360 console to the Internet, you can copy the console update from your computer to a USB flash drive and then install it on the console.

Note The USB flash drive must use the FAT32 file system.

Plug your USB flash drive into a USB port on your computer.

Download the update file.:
www.xbox.com/system-update-usb

Click Save to save the console update .zip file on your computer.

Unzip the file. If you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7, double-click the .zip file to unzip it.

(or in your case it click on the .zip and un zip it for mac in downloads)

Copy the contents of the .zip file to the root directory of your flash drive. (click on the first part then hit shift+left click on the content the drag into the USB drive on the desktop)

Unplug the USB flash drive from your computer. (right click=control right click-- and hit eject)

Plug the flash drive into a USB port on your Xbox 360 console.

Restart the console.

When the console restarts, the installation program starts automatically. Select Yes when you are prompted to update the new console software.

and that should work man (this was edited for mac also)
