    update + hard drive format / unformatted


    Received message that an update is available when the 360 was turned on,...click yes,...another message pops up says not enough room on HD,...190mb required. I have a 250G HD and its not even close to being full. Then it says that the HD requires formatting.
    Did that, still says unformatted.

    Xbox 360 Elite Hard Drive error?

    Hi, as the hard drive is showing as unformatted there's little you can do but try to format it. The hard drive may not format or format but then become unformatted again which would indicate a major problem with the hard drive.

    Xbox 360 Slim Hard Drive

    My Xbox 360 had an update and it made my hard drive unformatted and when I format it and it loads I check it and it still says unformatted. What do I do about this?

    i am also having this problem. system was working fine yesterday. tried to turn on today and this same scenerio happened. WHAT IS GOING ON?

    a lot of the times it is because you MAY have a bootleg hard drive and that scenario is VERY common with those drives an update makes them unusable and you have NO choice but to format the drive to continue. where did you guys get said drives if they came
    with the system when the systems were bought new that is the only 100% way to tell they are not bootleg drives. and a bootleg drive loos almost 100% like a legit factory drive.

    If you’re using a non-Microsoft hard drive, the device may appear as “unformatted” and prompt you to format the hard drive. Try disconnecting your hard drive and then reconnecting it to see if that solves the problem.
