When is this coming? Its been 3 ½ months now since the statement was put out. Powerful Dolby Atmos Sound Coming To Xbox One And Windows 10

I really dont understand whats the delay, if preview members can get it. Even on my old ps3 i could watch bluray moview with true HD sound. Why does Microsoft put out a 4K video able

xbox one S on the street with no support for TrueHD sound. Its just plain stupid.

Just put the freaking update ready for download already, or make me a preview member.

    :)

  2. Can't play TrueHD sound from my Ultra HD player in xbox one S

When will there be an update so i can play my bluray movies with Dolby trueHD sound. Also there need to be an update for playing ultraHD discs with dolby Atmos.

So when will this be available?

I find it very disturbing that you would send out a Ultra HD player without support for HD sound.

Xbox will only output sound in Dolby Atmos

Since the April Xbox One update, my Xbox will now only output sound in Dolby Atmos mode, even when the content I am watching does not support Dolby Atmos. Before the update, there would only be Dolby Atmos sound when the show or movie I was watching supported
Dolby Atmos. This isn't all that bad, except with Dolby Atmos I am unable to change the sound mode that my soundbar outputs. For example, when I am watching sports, I can't change the sound to sports mode because it thinks my cable service is somehow providing
    Dolby Atmos sound.

Dolby Atmos w/ Sony HT-X9000F Sound bar question / setup

    https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/D12isMWJ+fS.pdf - The Manual

HDMI ARC Does not support Dolby Atmos or DTS:X. They really have to mention that more. The only way to get Dolby Atmos is from a direct connection with something like a Blu-ray player or your computer. If it goes through a tv, it won't support Dolby Atmos.
The manual, use CTRL + F and type atmos to find it, lists what you get with a connection.

HDMI Direct Connection | HDMI ARC
    | Optical |

    LPCM 2.0 | Yes | Yes | Yes |

    LPCM 5.1 | Yes | No | No |

    LPCM 7.1 | Yes | No | No |

    Dolby Digital | Yes | Yes | Yes |

    Dolby TrueHD | Yes | No | No |

    Dolby Digital+ | Yes | Yes | No |

    Dolby Atmos | Yes |Refer Below| No |

    DTS-HD HRA | Yes | No | No |

DTS-HD MA, DTS LBR, DTS: X, and DSD are HDMI Direct Connection only.

Ok, as to why I said refer below for Dolby Atmos on ARC is that there is a difference between Dolby Atmos. So you can encode atmos into either TrueHD or EAC3. If something doesn't support atmos, the system falls back to either TrueHD or EAC3. (TrueHD is
most common in files. HDMI ARC does not support TrueHD + Atmos combo. However, some TVs can support EAC3 + Atmos. So for most files, you'll have TrueHD + Atmos. HDMI ARC will not support TrueHD or Atmos. However, some TVs can support EAC3 + Atmos. However,
you will rarely find this. Your best bet is to directly plug something like your graphics card (atmos must be supported), Blu-ray player or anything that can output Atmos. HDMI ARC is soo confusing to deal with and that's why many people just assume that it
can support atmos. I've heard new software is coming out that may support atmos on arc though.

    Explanation:

Dolby Atmos for Blu-ray & Basically everything else - Direct Connection - NO ARC

Dolby Atmos for streaming (Netflix, Amazon Video) - HDMI ARC is okay!

Conclusion: HDMI ARC is limited right now. You should use a direct connection if you want to fully experience atmos on your programs.

Edit: Steaming sites like netflix use DD+ which is EAC3 + Atmos. So you can use HDMI ARC and watch netflix with atmos but... that's pretty limited.

    Audio settings

Hello D3mondkid12! Dolby Digital is a system that designates 2.0 up to 5.1 or more channels where the speakers are arranged horizontally (designations include Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital EX, Dolby Digital
Plus) Dolby TrueHD is the next step but the speakers are still arranged horizontally.

Dolby Atmos is a system where speakers are arranged both horizontally and vertically. Examples include 3.1.2, 5.1.2, 5.1.4, 7.1.2, 7.1.4. The first number is the number of horizontal speakers, the second number
is the subwoofer, and the third number is the number of vertical speakers (vertical speakers can be placed on the ceiling or pointing up from the top of the horizontal speakers). Dolby Atmos information can be encoded within a Dolby True HD signal - if you
have a Dolby Atmos Blu-ray and your receiver doesn’t feature Dolby Atmos decoding, it will default to Dolby TrueHD, Hope it helps!

    no dolby atmos sound,

I don't believe that your TV will pass a Dolby TrueHD signal. Atmos is in the TrueHD signal. It will only pass thru Basic Dolby Digital and DTS. Only a few high end TVs are capable of passing TrueHD and DTS MasterAudio signals thru because of the higher
bandwidth required. With your setup I don't think you have any good options. For some sending the signal to the soundbar first works but your soundbar won't send a 4k signal thru to the TV. I bet sending the Xbox output to the sound bar first will give
you Atmos (meaning the Xbox app is working) But then you would have to set the video to 1080p. Not a great option.
