Update failure, Unable to use USB or CD to update

I have renewed attempts to update my xbox 360 after it failed in early December.

My 360 is 1 and 1/2 years old, the internal flash(4GB) is corrupted and unformattable, BUT I have two external drives with about 10GB of space.

It has failed to update through LIVE and even through downloading the update onto both a CD and a USB drive.

The CD is "unreadable" and the USB drive fails to do anything despite being the correct format.

As pertaining to the USB drive: I downloaded and copied the update onto the FAT32 formatted drive, but once inserted into the 360, it is unformatted and needs to be formatted thus erasing the update and the entire point of the operation. How is this possible
when it is the correct format?

Is the fact that my internal memory is corrupted and unformattable prevent me from updating by any means? Would purchasing an internal hard drive allow me to update my 360?

Error codes allude to the fact that it seems to think I have no space for the update even when I have external space....

Please help, I have enjoyed my 360 but this experience may just cause me to abandon Microsoft.

That seems to be a very low speedtest. Xbox LIVE recommends at least 3 mbps for comfortable usage. If you're unable to update via CD/DVD, is it possible for you to use a USB Flash Drive to update?

Yes i have tried a USB or i haven't tried DVD/CD

I believe the issue does lie with the internal drive. You should consider either sending the console in for repairs or purchase an Xbox 360 drive.

Hi, could you check how much free space there is on the storage device you have, if there is less than 250Mb or so then clear up some space.

If the storage device shows as unformatted then you may have a more serious issue but try formatting that device and then updating.

This may also be worth a shot, highlight the storage device in the storage section of the settings on the Xbox, press the following buttons in sequence on the controller, LB RB X LB RB X, select yes on the next screen and the Xbox will restart, then try
updating again.

having a similar issue with an update that wants me to update but wont let me use xboxlive which means i cant update. ive been told to use a usb or cd to locally download the update and then update it to the xbox. the code im getting is a memory code/harddrive.
so id go that route and try the usb and cd to download the update and then use that to your 360.
