    update failing on ...C800-0036 but console is not tempered with!!!


    My Xbox 360S cannot update; it will fail on a ...C800-0036 error. Checking error code suggests my Xbox has been tempered with, howerver this is not the case!!!

    I already tried multiple things and spent several hours already with online support resulting in the same answer from them that my xbox has been tempered with and that I should send it for repairs. Things done: removed system update, format, clear cache,
    install via USB... downloading and Extraction of the update package goes fine but it fails after unpack on the prepare step on the ...C800-0036.

    I am not signed in with any account since making connection to Xbox LIVE fails and tells me to update which eventually fails too... When trying to connect to Xbox LIVE via the settings; all is showing OK accept for the Xbox LIVE (Update required).

    One more option I want to verify is to check whether my console is blocked... Question is: how to?

    I'm looking into this as my last resort; if this doesn't get me any further I will hack the sh*t out of it and see if it is of any use afer, if this fails; it will be the last time this Xbox has seen any light.

    Error code c800-0036 usually means that your console has been tempered with or modified and for that reason it can no longer connect to Xbox Live, install software updates, or play new games that require a console software update.

    In rare cases, it could mean that your Live account has been locked. If you have a different account, then try use this account as an alternative, to see if you're able to download and install the update.

    Your only resolution is to contact Xbox Support and have them know about your issue.

    Error code C800-0036 would indicate that your console has been tempered with or modified. A console that has been tempered with or modified will be banned and can no longer connect to Xbox LIVE, install software updates, or play games that require a console
    software update.

    Contact Xbox Support and have them verify.
