    XB1 failing to update

Speak with xbox support by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX or go to their forums to find suggestions on how to fix this. The obvious remedies would be turning it off or factory reset. Another thing you could try is disconnecting from your wifi and reconnecting and if that doesn't work, connect to your router or modem via RJ-45.

  4. UPDATE FAILED

    Hey there

    Welcome to the forums

    .

I did a search on this error code '3F4B-40A3-1781-0300-C800-0036' and found no results. However, I love challenges, and would love to assist you with your problem. Now, I would like to ask you some questions regarding this issue

    1. How many times did you try to install the update

    2. Do you have enough memory on your Hard Drive

    3. Is your Hard Drive formatted to your Xbox 360 [Visible]

    4. How's your Internet connection to Xbox Live

    .

I hope you can get back to me with those answers. Then I can try and help you further

    Regards

    hi all

    ok try this:

Reset XBOX 360 Failed System Updates

With the console off, press and hold the sync up button.

While holding the sync button press the power button to turn on the console

Continue to hold the sync button until the Console has booted up completely.

During the boot process the console should clear any failed updates, allowing you to use it normally.

    hope that helpsUPDATE FAILED :)

    UPDATE FAILED

    Problem

You see the following error when you try to download an update for the Xbox 360 console:

    • xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-C800-0036
Note The “x” digits vary according to several factors, such as region or country.

This may mean that your console has been tampered with or modified. This also means that your console has been banned from Xbox Live and can no longer connect to Xbox Live, install software updates, or play new games that require a console software update.

Learn about Xbox Live console bans
    .

    Solution

Unfortunately, this problem can’t be resolved, and you won’t be able to sign in or connect to Xbox Live. However, you can still play games offline. You have to physically disconnect your network cable or remove your Xbox 360 Wireless Network Adapter from
    the console.

You can use the following steps to turn off the automatic sign-in so that you can play games offline. To turn off auto sign-in:

    1. Restart your console.
    2. Select No if you’re prompted to update your console software.
    3. Press the Guide button on your controller.
    4. Go to Settings, and then select Profile.
    5. Select Sign-in Preferences.
    6. Set Profile Auto Sign-in to “Off.”
    7. Press B on your controller to return to the Xbox Dashboard.
Your console can now play your existing games offline. Any future attempts to sign in to Xbox Live or update your console software, however, will result in an error.

    Hi all!

First and foremost please do NOT assume your console has a ban on it. If you wish to find out for sure, please go here

    enforcement.xbox.com/.../ConsoleCheck

to enter in the CSN and find out.

I have never heard of that error code being given for a ban.

    From the Xbox site directly:

When an Xbox 360 console is banned from accessing the service, it will display the following message:

“This console has been banned for violations of the Terms of Use. To protect the Xbox Live service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about console bans. There is no recourse for Terms of Use violations.”

    ~*~

As to the code itself, I would do these steps:

Check your HDD for any corrupt data, remove any you find and either way,

    On a 360

clear the cache 3x (guide>settings>system>storage> HIGHLIGHT [do not select] a storage device> Y button> clear cache> YES; repeat x 3), power cycle your console (turn off console using the power button and remove power cord from console for a full timed
minute) and try again. If that doesn't work, try removing and reseating your HDD (Hard Drive). Use the steps here:

    support.xbox.com/.../add-remove-hard-drive

    *

On a XB1 you would check for corrupt content and remove. The hold the powerbutton on the console down until all lights are off. Remove ALL cords from the back of the console for one full minute. Make sure your power cord is going to a WALL outlet NOT a powerstrip.
Replace all cords BUT leave the power cord for LAST (This is a good practice on ANY electronic equipment).

    ~*~

    If those do not help:

    Run test connection:

    360 :

Press the Guide button on your controller.

Select Settings, System Settings, and then Network Settings.

Select the name of your Wireless Network, or select Wired Network for a wired connection.

    Select Test Xbox Live Connection.

    XB1:

Press the Menu button on the Xbox One controller.

    Select Settings.

    Select Network.

On the Network settings screen, under Current Network Status, the NAT Type field will tell you your current NAT type.

    FOR EITHER CONSOLE:

If your NAT connection is ANYTHING except open, that is probably your issue and you should contact xbox cx support connectivity/networking department.

NOTE: You can have connection fine to other devices and even do some things on your xbox and still have a NAT issue, the ONLY way to know is to run the test and even then it might be a hidden NAT issue.

  12. Hey there, Mystyria! I appreciate your enthusiasm to help others out. This thread is pretty old, though, and the code that they received does state that they have a console ban. However, there are plenty of other more recent posts here on the forums that
can definitely use your expertise! Head over to some and drop some knowledge there! UPDATE FAILED :D

    TrickedCircle68,

I'd recommending running through all steps in
    this thread
first so we know the results of all steps. If this doesn't resolve the problem then I'd recommend creating a new thread in the 00 - 2013 Xbox Dashboard Update forums
as they were recently created solely for the purpose of troubleshooting console updates. If you have any other questions or concerns please don't hesitate to ask. Thank you,

    Update failed

I actually had that error of: 3143-397F-1600-2203-C000-0001 on my one console and if I remember correctly that means that the console has been modified or tampered with. I didn't do anything with my console but I found mine was refurbished and so it was
opened by someone other then Microsoft. If you call into the Xbox Support line they can tell you for sure.
