Update failed

Yesterday I tried to download a game off the marketplace and got an error code (can't remember code) I also couldn't access my account setting (can't remember that code either) got onto xbox support. They got me to power down, power up. Delete my profile
and re download. Then they got me to erase my update by r1 l1 x r1 l1 x. The xbox then restarted and then started downloading an update. When the update finally finished downloading the console restarted, I was then prompted that the update had failed and
that an update was needed to access xbox live but it was not available. Xbox support then got me to try and update from USB. This made no difference and I was told my xbox needed to be repaired. Today I decided to buy a brand new xbox360. I plugged it all
in turned it on, connected it to the internet via wifi network. It started to download an update. When it finally finished, it restarted and I got the exact same message saying update failed. Xbox support got me to download the update again, still the same
problem and then was told to return the console to where I got from.

Speak with xbox support by calling 1-800-4MY-XBOX or go to their forums to find suggestions on how to fix this. The obvious remedies would be turning it off or factory reset. Another thing you could try is disconnecting from your wifi and reconnecting and if that doesn't work, connect to your router or modem via RJ-45.

I would return it to the store and get a new one.

 

Was the console purchased new or used? What was the exact error code you received when you tried to update?

 

Console was brand new. There was no error code just a message, update failed, a system update is required to sign in to xbox live, but the update is currently unavailable. If the problem persists, visit www.xbox.com/support.

Got this message on my old xbox and the brand new one.

 

Are you using the same HDD from the older console? If so try removing it for the duration of the update. If there are no issues then the problem would more than likely lie with the storage device.

 

No, I'm using a brand new 250gb s console.

 

Ok, try removing the hard drive that came with the new console anyway just to be sure.

I returned the new console and got a new one last night and worked fine. As for the old one, I will have another go tonight.
