    Just reminding everyone new to check once in a while on your Xbox One to make sure your controller is updated with the latest update. Each time you update it just make sure and have your stereo headset adapter and whatever headset your using in as well. If
    you've gotten a new headset make sure it's plugged in too.

    Update controller

    i just updated my controller. It gave some errors saying that is was disconnected \. it started to update the controller and went to 5% done then it said it lost connection. Now my controller does not turn on or do anything. Has anybody else experinced
    this?

    I would say take the batteries out of the controller and put fresh batteries in the controller first. Just to make sure. Then i would try to update the controller again.

    If you need to reprogrm the controller again for some reason, the button is on the side of the Xbox One.

    I updated mine, thanks for the heads up, however, I have not got an idea of what it update lol, but it did update.

    Update controller

    I haven't updated mine lol. The controller needs updating too?! Not something I'm use to from Xbox 360. It still does what it's mean to can play games and issue Dashboard commands fine. And I use the Kinect not a headset/mic, for voice chat. Some say you
    need to connect a micro USB cable from the controller to your console, the controller can't just talk to the console wireless to get the update? I do keep the actual console up to date though.

    You do need the USB lead to update, I did it yesterday and the when you start the update the first thing it asks for is the USB, then attach the headset, I did and it updated fine.

    I use the play n charge wire that comes with the stereo headset adapter. I always plug my headset in then plug in the USB, then go to settings>system>update controller!

    Don't quote me, but I think it adds support for newer headsets. (Especially needed for stereo headsets) I don't know what else it may have changed, if anything.

    Update controller

    I've updated my controller when I got my Turtle Beach XO Sevens last month or so... I am a bit worried to keep updating it, just in case they no longer work. Plus I've heard some people say (not just on here) that update the controller can actually cause
    it to malfunction or even stop working all together.

    Update XBox controller support has steps to update the controller firmware.
    It did not say "Start update" or the update is available for xbox one controller.

    Controller Update for Stereo Headset Adapter Fails

    It sounds like the controller update also updates the headset adapter as the instructions state plug in headset/adapter before updating . So if you have updated the controller with out the headset adapter plugged in its possible that the console will think
    the controller is updated but not recognize that the adapter isnt and then fail or say that the controller is upto date . The only way around this maybe to get a new controller or a controller that hasnt been updated and try the update again . Or try the
    headset adapter in a friends controller that has had the update done and see if it works
