i'll try and be calm about this as i'm very very P****D OFF!

Explain why the dvd player requires an internet connection to work?

i have no internet at home what little i do have is at best dailup speeds this will NEVER change as the exchange is overloaded and it will not be getting upgraded according to the lines company Chorus. and nothing ticks me off more than EVERY TIME i go to play
a game or watch a dvd in OFFLINE MODE it demands i update it and when i select "update later" it will not work at all a 350mb update takes 44 hours to download.

the next update had better fix this issue otherwise you (Microsoft) can buy the dammed thing back! meantime i'll watch my dvd on the 360 cause that thing works just fine with no internet!

Try a different clip error (0x80040212)

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your console, although the xbox one is mainly for watching LIVE tv and to play online with your friends and family to get the best enjoyment. I totally agree you shouldn't need to update in order to play DVDs although
it is needed to fix issues and make things more enjoyable.

Both do not work on my and it doesn't matter if it's in offline mode/ internet connection without the update/ internet connection with the update/ update without internet connection nothing seems to solve the problem as stated in my previous post trying
to fix this I have tried factory resetting on my console multiple times to no avail and on my brother's console who has never once played the game before it crashes on the Startup page without the update I'm just has a black screen with the update he never
had any save progression at all as I only put the disc on his system to see what was wrong

I would recommend restarting your internet or changing to an alternate wireless connection if available.

Same problem following a windows update. Tried loads of things suggested on the internet but nothing works. Rolled back to a previous installation and it worked for a couple of days.

Im having the same problem and nothing what so ever will work all it says is update failed a system update is required but not available. Its so irritating.
