    update and start up issue

got up this morning and turned on xbox all was well then got an update prompt, never had any issues updating b4 so i started it. it downloaded the update then started to restart while installing but it never turned back on, so i tried to manually restart
it and nothing, it was like i wasnt even touching the button. unplugged evrything and waited a bit multiple times (was starting to think it was shot and almost filled out the service request for it) and finally it turned back on. wen it did it i got the update
prompt again so tried again and had the same problem, repeated process a third time and same thing. been trying to find out sumthing to do but cant find anything for my scenario which is during update and the power cycle for it it screws up and never restarts
in fact the only way to get it to even turn back on is to unplug everything 4 like 10 mins, i dont get a green or black screen hang or any error msg like the support sections pertaining to update problems on the site but could use some help thinking about
manually installing the update offline or watever but still not sure if this would even work or if there are other options

    :)

    update and start up issue

    Hi Flood,

Based on what you've said, I would suggest you do try the offline system update (OSUDT).

During the boot-up sequence, hold the bind+eject buttons (you'll need some dexterity to hit all three buttons, or ask someone to literally lend you a hand) to force the console to look for an update that you will have prepared on a USB stick. After this
your console should be updated and ready for you.

This link will walk you through all the steps needed.

If the console is still not taking the update, there is a slightly more drastic option: factory reset.

The steps are very similar, but for this process you will need
    this link
    instead.

This will restore the console to factory settings and from there you should be able to sign back in with your account and restore everything to how it was before.

If you have any questions, give us a shout. Let us know how you get on.

    Start up issues.

This issue often is caused by corrupted data in the console which prevents the home screen from loading correctly, this can often be fixed by a factory restore. Now as you can't actually access the settings to do this there is a way to restore to factory
defaults using a USB flash drive.

If you visit the offline system diagnostic support page you can download the Restore Factory Defaults file:

    support.xbox.com/.../offline-system-update-diagnostic-tool

Read through the process of formatting the flash drive etc thoroughly and follow the instructions as if you were doing a system update but using the file you downloaded you may find that your console will then boot correctly.

    Hope this helps you!

Do a power cycle. And if problem is still there might need to do a hard reset.
