Update and Deleted Files

Prompted to system update but everything on the console is gone. We have checked the storage but there was nothing there. If we try to update, it wont let us due to it saying that we need more space. 190mb. We do have enough. It states we have 10gb because
everything on the console was deleted. Even if I connect my USB with the xbox360 update on it, it wont work. All the achievements, apps, profiles and anything else is completely gone. Please help us.

Huge Day One Updates-Entire Game Not On Disc-A Problem?

Just want to point out that an update won't necessarily take up that much space on your HDD. Sometimes it'll need to update a file, so it'll download the whole new file and delete the old one off of the HDD.

So say there's a texture issue. Texture can get pretty big. However, they can't just go in and change some pixels, they have to replace the whole file. So you'll get a 10 MB update, which is the new texture file. But at the same time the old texture file, also 10 MB, is deleted from your HDD, and thus you're left with the same amount of free space as before, despite having a 10MB update.

If you have not deleted the update file and with everything else deleted as above; try deleting the update file itself from settings, memory, Halo 4 etc.

When you re-enter the game it should prompt you to download the update again.

Sorry to hear it. What type of storage device are you using?

 

I did try to contact them but the page did not let me add my name, and since they were required pieces of information i had to post this here. I am just using an usb because i did not know what it meant by an xbox storage device.

 

Thanks for the info. It sounds as though the USB device may be buggy and that would be why you are having issues updating. I would recommend getting an official Xbox 360 hard drive for your console. The lack of an official storage device may be why you
are experiencing issues.
