Unusual controller problem

I recently purchased a second hand controller and i know its not covered by microsoft anymore. i just want to know if this has happened before.

After a few days i started having problems with the left analogue stick, it works fine in the game but not in menu's. for instance it still moves my character backwards in halo but when i pause the game i have to use the d-pad to scroll down the menu. the
stick still works in every other direction. has anyone else had this problem?

Unusual problem.

Its usually a problem on MS end-not your console.Its probably a service alert.These problems generally resolve by themselves .It happens to me for a while then suddenly quits doing t.

 

Unusual problem.

Lately whenever I leave the Xbox dashboard or leave a game/app to go to the dashboard, it signs me out. My brother's account which is on the same console is unaffected by this. If someone could help me with this that would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to say what might be going on with the controller since it's second hand. If you have the ability to exchange the controller you might want to consider that. You could try the following steps though to try and troubleshoot it.

1. Make sure the controller's fully up to date with these steps.

2. Try to disconnect the controller from the console and resync the controller with
these steps.

Hope that helps! If not, you'll need to replace the controller most likely.

I have tried both of those steps several times before, also tried it on other xboxes but no luck.

I may have exaggerated how recently i bought it. It was about 7months ago. But my son was born just after the problem started and i was busy with parenthood and forgot to send it back to CEX. just gonna have to write it off i guess. its ok most of the time
but is more annoying than anything. i just wanted to know if anyone else has had this.
