Unusual audio bug?

When I plug in my headset my games and apps start behaving weirdly. I'll use youtube as an example. When I plug in my headset to my wired xbox controller youtube videos will stop playing and start loading for no obvious reason, but when I unplug my headset the video immediately starts playing with no issues at all. When I play a game however and I try the same thing my game lags severely for about 5-10 seconds and no audio comes through besides a brief amount of audio before it starts lagging. I don't know why this happens, I've never had it happen before, and I don't know what I should do to fix it.

Edit: I fixed it. I went into my settings>volume&audio output, put my hdmi and optical audio to stereo uncompressedand that fixed my issue (previously my home audio was set to off so I think that was the problem)

If the game doesn't have excessive bugs on release then something very dark and unusual is going on at Bethesda.

This problem weirdly is super common with so many people, it's really unusual that the game came out with as many bugs as it has.

It's a difficult one as it depends on what is the reason:

- If it's a bug, then that would be entirely normal for games these days....it would be unusual for a game to release that doesn't have bugs, even Remastered games have horrid bugs. Likely the bug will be patched

- If it's a Developer decision/Game Pass reason, then, yes, the release notes should have mentioned it when it was announced.

Thing is, it is not at all unusual for games from the MS Store/Game Pass to have features missing compared to Steam, although I can't think of any offhand I know there have been some

I agree that it seems unlikely HDMI connection issues would cause the channel changing problem. However they could very easily cause the audio problem. The question is whether or not the audio problem is fixed when the cable is held into the right position?

I have noticed that the connection is unusually loose (please do not patronise about cable angles or being heavy handed - I have an army of HDMI devices which have no problems with the connection at all) and if either of the HDMI cables are nudged at all
I will lose the picture signal. It is unusually sensitive to movement due to, IMHO, poor build quality.

It is an unfortunate byproduct of the internet age, that software is more often than not released to market full of bugs because of the ability to patch remotely. Let's hope this approach is not leaking into hardware, because physical patches are a lot
less convenient to apply and usually require an upgrade fee.
