Unused Gamertags

    Hi,

    You can't buy unused gamertags I'm afraid. You will have to wait until Microsoft release the unused gamertag which they do occasionally. It could be years though.

    Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

    Do you think Microsoft will ever clear out the old unused gamertags that have not ever been actually used or have had their last activity 7+ years ago?

    If the system says it's taken, then it is in use somewhere on Microsoft's servers. The tag system is in use on other Microsoft services, so even if it is not in use on an Xbox, it may be in use elsewhere. The system also doesn't see things like spaces a
    making a gamertag unique. So while you may look up "gamertag" and can't find it, it may be in use as "gamer tag".

    Nope. Not by a long shot. I would even call them "errors", either. It is just plain laziness, and misdirection. They send people here because it's too hard for them to do what they are paid for, and help their customers themselves.

    Gamertag with no star rep or gamertag and unlimited live with the same gamerpic are refered as "V1s"

    They are accounts that were used on the original Xbox and were never transfered to the Xbox 360!
