Unused Gamertag

I recently wanted to change my Xbox Live Gamertag. I had one in mind but it was taken. When I looked at the account I had noticed it hasn't been used in over 3 years. I contacted Xbox support and they told me to make a forum post. My Gamertag is WOLSKI R3CZ
and the Gamertag I want is Wolskii. I was told only the enforcement team could help me with this issue. I was also told by doing this my problem should be resolved. I hope to hear something soon.

You can't buy unused gamertags I'm afraid. You will have to wait until Microsoft release the unused gamertag which they do occasionally. It could be years though.

 

Do you think Microsoft will clear out old unused gamertags?

Do you think Microsoft will ever clear out the old unused gamertags that have not ever been actually used or have had their last activity 7+ years ago?

 

No one can help you to get this gamertag.

It would need to be released by microsoft,and that would take at least 7 years,if ever.

 

Gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live so you don't know that the tag is not in use.

The enforcement team don't read these forums anyway.

 

I'm willing to bet that Support told him to come and post here.

Nope. Not by a long shot. I would even call them "errors", either. It is just plain laziness, and misdirection. They send people here because it's too hard for them to do what they are paid for, and help their customers themselves.

Every time I get asked to take the forum survey I complain about that in the comments section. Yea I know, snowball in hell.

 

Why cant you modify the tag? (No.1 Wolskii or something)

 

Because it would cost 9.99. Please call support for account issues.
