    Unstable Connection to Internet w/ Xbox One S


    I have an Xbox One S that I have used for years and in the last couple of days it has had connection problems. I have run all of the diagnostic checks like testing internet speed on my phone, computer, and the Xbox itself and all of the results come back as well above the minimum for streaming and online multiplayer. I have tried multiple fixes and I have seen no improvement (mostly that shows buffer for 20 minutes for 30 seconds of blurry footage and I am constantly getting disconnected from my games). Fixes that I have tried include classics like turning it off and back on again, clearing the cache, and resetting the alternate mac address all which which did absolutely nothing. At this point, I really just want to be able to play some games without constantly disconnecting ever 5 minutes and having to redo all the stuff that I just did. If you have a potential out of the box fix, please let me know.

    I suggest that you connect directly to the xbox then wifi, sometimes wifi connection can be unstable then a connected one and then go to test network setting and check if is connected to the internet.

    correctly connected     to the internet. Also if the console is connected to a Wi-Fi connection, try using an ethernet cable: the Wi-Fi signal can be unstable in multiplayer.

    Check your network connection and make sure you have a stable, high-speed internet connection. If your internet connection is slow or unstable, it can cause laggy gameplay.

    Try using a different HDMI cable, as a faulty or low-quality cable can cause laggy gameplay.

    Check your Xbox One S video settings and make sure that your console is set to output at the correct resolution (in this case, 4K). Also, try adjusting the video output settings to see if that improves the performance.

    Problems like this can often be caused by wireless even if you have a strong signal.

    Try using a wired connection if possible.

    It could also be a problem with your internet connection itself. It could be unstable. You should go into your router settings and check to see if the connection has dropped.

    There is usually a time connected stat in the routers settings. If the connection is unstable and disconnects then time connected stat will reset as well. This is one way to verify if your actual connection is unstable.

    Getting into the router stats varies with different brands of router but the instructions are usually on a sticker underneath the router.
