Unrecognized Disc

When I insert a disc in my console, there is this weird beeping noise, then it says "unrecognizable disc".

- The problem is not the hard drive because I've removed it and tried to play a game, and it still didnt work.

- All my disc games are unrecognizable but I can still play those I downloaded.

- I have no usb key plugged.

Additional information:

At first, I could still press on "play game", then it would tell me unreadable disc. If I'd eject and re-enter the game in the xbox, sometimes it would work. When it didn't anymore, I researched and apparently tapping lightly while the console reads the
cd would help. It worked for a while then stopped. Then I realized I could play disc games I had installed, but not the others. I had to insert the disc, go on "games and select the installed game. When that didn't work anymore the console would beep when
I inserted the disc, and it would just say "unrecognized disk" on the home menu.

I'm thinking the problem is getting worse and worse... well I doubt it can get worst then this. I wanted to sell my console to buy next-gen, but I don't think it'll go for much.

My dad think it's the thing that reads the CD thats broken. Anyone else have similar problems? And is there anyway I can repair this myself by opening it or do I have to send it to someone? Thank you for the help!

Oh and please dont tell me if I tried cleaning the disk

Unrecognized Disc

I have rage and the disc 2 will not read it says unrecognized disc I replaced the game and did the same thing still disc 2 unrecognized

 

Black Ops 2 Unrecognized Disc... STILL!!??

@ irekski just tried that, still saying unrecognized disc.

 

I'm going to have to side with your dad on this one. The laser has probably died on you and that would be the reason the console is not reading the discs.

You may be stuck with either purchasing a new 360 or upgrading to the Xbox One.

 

Is there any way I could just replace it with a new one or do I have to buy a new console at all costs?

 

To replace the drive would be considered modding and is against the ToU and CoC of the Live service that you agreed to when you signed up for Live. If caught your console and/or gamertag could be banned from the Live service altogether.

 

is your warrenty expired? there is a eye where you put the disk on that reads your disk. Sometimes it gets stuck or damaged. I do not suggest messing with this because it does void warranty. So I suggest calling 1-800-4MYXBOX and transferring to hardware.
