    I do lose my temper at people in games, but I'm grown up enough to control my temper, and not giving them a reason to report me.

    I simply block them, and know, that I did the worst thing to them: not giving them the joy of reacting to their harassment.

    No matter what insults I could come up with: They will just laugh at them and happily report my insults, so I get banned and be even more humiliated by those bullies.

    That's not gonna happen.

    So if someone bullies me, I use the technology that Xbox provides to block them. That way they can try to entice me, bully me, harass me, and the only thing that happens is, that they get more and more furious, because I don't react to their harassment.

    They can throw as many insults at me as they like, and I'll gladly redirect those to the virtual void of the block filter, after redirecting the first wave of insults to the Enforcement team.

    They can then take further steps and suspend those trolls for me.

    Don't try to be a vigilant. This only gives the other party evidence that they can give to the Enforcement team.

    Your life motto of being big enough to take what one gives out is a bad idea on Xbox Live. Because the only thing *you* can do is send *words*.

    And if these words violate the code of conduct, you get suspended, while the others simply laugh, because you fell for their silly trap.

    However, with your report, the Enforcement team can issue suspensions.

    So instead of throwing cotton balls around in the form of words (no matter how insulting you think they are), have them taste the mighty force of the ban hammer, by getting the enforcement team involved with your report.

    happens to them. So how can you justify 1 message for a ban?
    Playstation might need to have warnings, because their system doesn't allow for PSN ID changes, and without a warning, they would immediately ban the account completely.

    Consider the TEMPORARY suspensions for 24 hours as your warning.

    Microsoft continues to WARN you for a week, then a month, and eventually after enough warnings happened on your account, they then permanently suspend you from the Live service.

    As you say for yourself: People tend not to read stuff. So Microsoft doesn't bother to send a warning, that goes unread anyways.

    But being unable to use something for 24 hours usually gets the point across as a warning.

    Microsoft considers the code of conduct and terms of service you agree to when you sign up to be your warning. They don't give any other warnings before a suspension.

    Playstation has similar rules.

    So basically what you are saying that we get no actual alert that warns us of our behaviour. But you seem to care more about swearing and profanities than the actual situation. Normally before a ban is place there is monitering then suitable action taken.
    Not going to lie i got slapped with a 28 hour ban for calling a hacker a bad word which he then said enjoy your ban. Seriously hackers and modders make people rage and then get them banned when they say something. Its stupid. If microsoft and xbox live dont
    sort there stuff out and actually investigate situations then i can safely say i will shut my account down and go over to playstation.

    It doesn't matter how a situation starts. If you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct, you can be suspended. It's best to just report the other person (yes, the enforcement team would investigate him and ban him) and block communications
    with them. Profanity has always been a violation of the code of conduct (which is your warning), nothing has changed there, so even if you haven't been suspended for it in the past, it doesn't mean it's allowed.
