Unreadable Disc when in the middle of a game, huh?

Hi,

I ran into this problem and have been trying to fix this for weeks now. Whenever I try to play a game my Xbox will read that there is a game and will attempt to play it but when it does, I get a message saying that the disc needs to be cleaned. Now I would
normally not have a problem with it but this is happening with a brand new game straight out of the box. I can get the game to play for 1-2 minutes maximum then I get a game error stating that the disc needs to be cleaned. Is there anyway to fix this without
having to buy a new Xbox? I bought the Xbox used and the warranty seal was already broken, but it has been working for me for the past 2 years so I thought nothing of it. I am a poor college student so I cant really buy anything. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Cod Ghost on demand disc unreadable error!!!!

I have exactly the same problem with Ghosts, downloaded this thing twice and still get a "unreadable disc" error message in the middle of every live game...very frustrating! Somebody help please.

Xbox Says disc is unreadable when playing but games not scratched

when i play a game for a while it says disc unreadable in the middle of me playing and brings me back to the dashboard. so i check the game and it isnt even scratched. so does this mean that my dvd drive is going out and i need to get a new xbox soon?

There are a few troubleshooting ideas that i have, that may work. There are no guarantees. Being that the warranty seal has been broken, someone has probably been messing around inside and who know what they did, and that is unfortunate. However, a "dvd
lens cleaner" disc may work, maybe the lens is just dusty. Also, check the quality of the bottom of the disc. Even, the smallest scratches and scuffs can make it work for a bit and then stop. I had the same issue, once i determined it was the condition of
the disc, i started to download all of my games and got a bigger hard drive for my system and now i bypass the disc drive entirely.

this is more a work around then a fix, but have you tried installing the game on to the hard drive. See this link for the how to:

support.xbox.com/.../install-play-delete-game

It could also be that case that if it is the only disc it happens too, it may be a imperfect disc, which you can try to return to see if that helps.

The reason it seems to be working when playing from the disc is that your xbox hasn't had any reason to access the data in the damaged part of the disc yet. When it does need to you will get a disc unreadable error or the game will freeze.

When installing it needs to access the whole disc which is why it always fails.

And to answer your question it will say disc unreadable at some point when the game needs to access the damaged part of the disc.

As you've already tried one of those disc repair services then your best option is to get a new disc.
