    For the past few months I have had 4 unread messages. The unread messages appear on my Xbox One and also on the Xbox app in Windows 10.

    However, all of my messages have been read! I'm sure other users are experiencing this issue, as a few of my friends said they were having same issue.

    I presume XBL team are finding a fix for this issue?

    It is really annoying having 4 unread messages when there are no messages! This could be a problem with messages being in cache memory, but I'm unsure.

    Xbox App Showing Messages I sent to others, as new messages for me to read.

    As of the last week, I went from zero unread, to 60 unread messages with only 3-4 actual new messages.

    Messages on the app show in Bold when unread, and they appear to all be mine.

    I confirmed my count went from 61 unread to 60, after reading one I sent another person. This doesn't seem to be 'Working as Designed' as my messages previously, were not counting towards unread. This would be a catastrophe with massive community backlash,
    if this were how Outlook were functioning.

    Please correct the app to not require a user to have to read their OWN message, just to make them unbolded, and to take away from the "new messages" count. The new messages should only count messages unread from others. This again, is only happening
    in the last week or so. I presume with the "Club/Group" rollout.

    Note, I did do an uninstall and reinstall and confirmed it still shows all the messages I sent, and is counting them all towards my 'unread'.

    How to clear messages?

    I have no unread messages on the Xbox One, but on the app, I can see many older messages showing as unread. Is there a way to quickly clear them all?

    Hello,

    When you go to check the messages, make sure you open up each individual thread - it could be an older message that the system is unread, so on the face of it when you open the messages tab they all look to be read but there's an unread one hiding in there.

    If it's not that:

    If you have an Xbox 360 boot it up (or start a backwards compatible game on Xbox One) and see if there are any pending friend requests or voice messages that are unread. That could be contributing to the number.

    Messaging bug?

    I encountered this bug today and I had an unread message that would not go away.

    so I clicked where it said 1 unread message and it took me to a chat (I'm pretty sure I'd already read it) and the notification went away.

    maybe this will work for you as well
