Unmounting Local Disk: Z causes Xbox App to not work properly

So for whatever reason, Local Disk (ZUnmounting Local Disk: Z causes Xbox App to not work properly :) doesn't disappear like others said it should; and stays mounted in my File Explorer.

So I tried manually unmounting it with Diskpart to remove the drive letter, and when I do, it causes the Xbox App to glitch and show none of my installed games. It doesn't even recognize any of my 3 drives under "settings > general > game install options".

Is there a reason for this? How do I unmount or hide the Local Disk (ZUnmounting Local Disk: Z causes Xbox App to not work properly :) without affecting other applications?

    :)

Yes, usually Z/Y/X: are used for network drives, exactly. This is why it is interesting to see Windows mounting that partition, and with such an usual letter to reference it. Follow these steps:

    1. Open Settings (Windows 10 app).

    2. Go to Applications.

    3. On that list, select the Xbox app, and then select Advanced Options.

    4. Go to Reset, and then press the Reset button.

Also, let's check your Windows 10 version. Open the Start Menu, type winver and press Enter. The version will be something like 1903, 1909, 2004, 20H2 or 21H1.

Why would it think that though? Aren't (Z:), (Y:), (X:), etc. for network drives?

Also, I did try what you said with no luck.

Hello xCrimin4L! I'm Claus, an Independent Microsoft Community Consultant for Xbox! Glad to be able to help you!

If you have games installed from the Xbox app on the Z: disk, then you would need to first move/install them on a local disk inside your PC. If your other drivers aren't detected by the Xbox app, then go to:

    1. Settings (Windows 10 app).

    2. Select System > Storage.

    3. Under More Storage Settings, select Change where new content is saved.

    4. Change the default local disk for new Apps to some other drive, and then restart your PC.

    5. Check if your other drives are now listed on the Xbox app.

It is on the Z: drive most likely because Windows set up the folders there in the likelyhood that you were going to use that drive to install games. But, given that you don't plan to do that, try to change the default drive as I've mentioned on my own first message. If that doesn't work, then try to install your game to the default drive selected, using the Microsoft Store to install your game.

You can also sign out of the Xbox app by pressing the profile picture on the app, and then sign out. Sign in again afterwards, and check if the issue still occurs.

I have 3 Physical Drives installed on my PC:

Local Disk (C:) - M.2 NVMe SSD (Has my OS and some programs)

Storage (D:) - M.2 SATA SSD (Where most of my storage goes, Desktop, documents, etc.)

Local Disk (F:) - 3.5" SATA HDD (Not used at the moment, just an old drive with my old PC's OS and Items)

I never installed anything to the (Z:) drive as its only has 99.2 MB capacity.

There are three folders inside the (Z:) drive:

I Install my games to my (D:) drive, which also has both the "Program Files" and "WindowsApps" folders as well, but I don't really understand as to why it would also be on the (Z:) drive.

The (Z:) Drive doesn't show up in Disk Management either, only in diskpart can I find it:

The red box is what I think the (Z:) drive is but im probably wrong.
