unknown gamer tag

I have a microsoft account for the use of microsoft office. When I went to set up an xbox account for my son using my account info, there is already a gamer name (Subpar Texas 7042) on this account. Does anyone know how I can remove this or if there is something
else I should do.

I have an unknown gamer tag associated with a live account I created yesterday.

yes the unknown gamer tag has no gamer score or achievements, nor any of my xbox friends.

 

If your account has never been online, your original gamertag may already be used by someone else, therefore it was changed to a random one by microsoft.

You will probably need to pay for a new tag if you account was created over 30 days ago.

If you are using Xbox One I believe you are allowed one free tag change. If you are on 360 I don't know what to tell you.

 

The name on the account is automatically given by the system when you create the gamertag. It did not exist until the moment you made the Xbox account.

You will be able to change the name to something else (provided that name is available) for free within 30 of creating the Xbox account. After that, it will cost you $10 to change the name.
