Universal Remote for XB1, Samsung TV, Virgin Media (TiVO) Bose Solo Soundbar & Apple TV??

Yep. It's a tall order!

XB1 has very quickly taken over the living room.

Would there be a remote that can use all the devices stated in the title?

As a family, we hate having 5 remotes (including controller) just lying around.

Hello. If you can control your soundbar's volume using your TV remote, then use the TV code for your TV on the Xbox 360 remote and see if it works. I have linked to the appropriate pages for the NEWER remote.



B&W (Bowers and Wilkins) are NOT a listed manufacturer under the codes section. If you spent $2,000+ on a B&W Panorama Soundbar, it might be a better idea to spend a couple hundred on a better Universal Remote such as the Harmony Line from Logitech that
has a wide list of supported brands and learning functionality.

Based on the information I found about your specific soundbar it has the capability to be controlled by your TV's remote control assuming your TV supports those features. If you have the capability to use your TV remote to control the volume of your soundbar,
then it's possible that the TV code for your TV can be used for this soundbar via the Xbox 360 media remote.



Even if there was a Bowers and Wilkins code for this remote, you would lose the ability to control your TV as you can only program 1 device at a time for this remote.

Virgin media TiVo INTO the xbox

Xbox OUTPUTS to samsung (hdmi 1)

AppleTV OUTPUTS to samsung (hdmi 2)

Noticed blank screen when returning to hdmi 1 and expecting to see the last

App still running (TV app)

Iif the tv app is left running it will happily do so all day, so long as I don't switch my tv's inputs.

 

The Logitech Harmony series of remotes will. I think the cheapest one is about 70 bucks in the US. I've used different models over the years and they work great.

The bottom of the page has a compatibility search, I checked everything you listed and they all came back supported, didn't check the TV because I didn't know the model but I seriously doubt that will be an issue.

Its been a few years since I've had a Harmony remote but man do they work wonders. Can't go wrong with those things. A little pricey last I checked but very convenient.

 

I have had a Harmony One for years now... It is a little pricey, but it had full support of all xbox one functions from day one. This remote operates my entire system, soundbars, TV, tivo, both xbox machines, WD TV box, you name it.

 

Thank you for the replies guys! I've had a look at the Harmony 700 seems to be the best one for the price! I've seen reviews that you sometimes have to push the button you want twice, to make it work?

Have you guys had this issue of the remote being slow?

 

I've never had an issue with the 3 models I've owned with there being any input lag.

The only issue I've had was user error....the touchscreen models don't like being dropped on the floor which is why I'm currently not using one. Hardwood floors and a 3 foot drop equals a broken remote.

 

use your phone and smartglass. thats what i use for the XB1, bose soundbar, DirecTV reciever and Samsung TV. its the best universal remote ever.

everybody has missed the obvious one that came with your xbox the kinect

It's also a universal remote, but only works when xbox is on, which is fine for me as my tv goes through it (virgin tivo box)

Kinect and Smartglass aren't universal remotes.

I have 4 consoles, a cable box, a Roku, surround sound system and TV in my entertainment center. Logitech Harmony remotes will control up to 15 platforms at a time, the Kinect and Smartglass are useless beyond the One and anything hooked directly into it.

I got it all set up and it works. However i'm just getting used to the commands. When i switch from TV (Xbox) to Apple TV, my Bose Solo keeps turning off. It's weird. And the TV does too.

It says that the power command is on and off when you push 'Watch TV.' So each time you go back, it turns it all off.

 

I guess you have your tivo plugged into your xbox and the apple tv is plugged into your tv. I guess one remote for that is not so bad

I have turned the option off to turn my tv and hdmi controller off when the xbox is turned off, but when i turn it on, it turns my HDMI, tivo and tv on volume and channel controls all work fine with voice and smartglass. My Mrs can even browse tv channels
and whats on now/next without disturbing my tv viewing.

Randver is not completely correct as the xbox does control your tv/sound center etc through the IR blaster which does not require control through devices plugged directly into the xbox, but he is correct that you cant control them unless it's setup with
the one.
