i need to know how to get all updates off of my xbox 360 console i know i have an official xbox 360 hard drive i was able to play original xbox games and xbox 360 games on my console but my hard drive messed up and i had to reformat it using the xbox 360
and now it wont let me play any games at all and hardly any dvd's so can someone tell me how to get all updates off the console so i can reinstall them again like i had to do before because even though i reformatted my hard drive it is still showing the current
update on the console itself and i want to get it off.

Turns out it's not an official Microsoft hard drive. I opened the case and it didn't even have a serial number. So problem solved

The support person doesn't know what he/she is talking about. It's pointless calling the support line with a technical question, they aren't good with them and if the person didn't know the answer, he/she should have said so rather than give you incorrect
information.

Original Xbox games that are compatible work just fine on my 360. In an earlier post you said your hard drive WAS official, how do you know that? Where did you buy it from. Even if it has official stickers on it, still doesn't make it official.

To play Original Xbox games, your hard drive must be a 100% Microsoft hard drive, if it's anything else, original Xbox games will not load.

and i know all my games are compatible cause i have an official list of all the games compatible with 360 and they are all listed and all worked up until about two months ago when i had to reformat my hard drive.

Firstly, you shouldn't revive an answered thread from nearly 3 years ago.

Now as for your problem, the backwards compatibility is pre-installed on all official xbox hard drives. You cannot download the emulation software from anywhere official. If it got erased from your hard drive then you will need to purchase another. If
you need to discuss this further you should start a thread of your own.

It can't just be any old hard drive either, it must be an official MS one. Cheap drives from the likes of eBay are generally fake and don't load original games, no matter what updates you have downloaded to your console.

It is update, I do have an official MS hard drive, and the list says my game is compatible. I don't understand why my games don't work.
