I bought 2 gifts today 12/12/17 to my 2 friends that live in Canada and I live in the US. Xbox took my money for the gifts and won’t give my friends the game I bought. I no I’m not wrong for being extremely angry over this and I sure many people would also
be angry. Who think Xbox should give them the games? After they took my money?

    :)

    Hey AjPiT,

Thanks for using the Support Forums!

I'm sorry to see that you're having issues with your Xbox One Console.

Firstly, congratulations on winning it! Takes great luck that does indeed. Unhappy with xbox :)

Unfortunately however- if you the warranty has expired on the console, you will be required to pay for the repair or replacement of the console, if you take it through Microsoft's processes.

On the flip-side, there is an EU law, that provides at least 2 years warranty on the console, which has to be provided by the original company that sold/gave you the console. In this case, that being McDonald's. Whether this would be enforced on a 'win'
I couldn't say, that would be up to McDonald's, but to save some extra money, you could try going through them.

Keep in mind that, with this 2 years warranty, you will need to provide absolute proof it was a defect with the console when originally received.

I was just thinking and I was wrong. I have only had the console for 6 months, I won it back in November. I guess McDonalds acquired it last January. I know it didn't seem like I have had it over a year.

Yeah it should be like the Steam market where you can purchase it and send it to whoever, this whole same region only thing is ridiculous and shouldn’t still be a thing in 2017

  5. Hi there,

You do realize the ability to gift digital copies of games through Xbox has only been offered for roughly a month. Would you rather it go back to how is was - not an option what so ever?

Other things to think about when sending/purchasing anything outside one's home country (this goes for digital or physical items):

    • Is the game/item permitted in the country - if not, it can't enter the country.
    • Are their import/export taxes that need to be paid - which party will be paying them. Typically it's the recipient, not the shipper/purchaser. The fees must be paid prior to the item entering the country.
    • If an item is purchased in a foreign currency, there are fees for the foreign exchange transaction - often from the credit card company/or what ever company/institution is managing the financial transaction, and is a straight pass through cost to the purchaser.
Not to mention the exchange tends to vary not just by day, but can vary by hour due to how market trading happens.
These are all things that anyone who has done any international dealings is well aware of, and takes it into account when purchasing or sending any monetary item be it digital or physical.

You can always post your feedback about the limitation on the
    feedback site
where the people that can do something about it will see it.

The "region Restriction" Is not really a restriction. Its the publishers who decide if there will be a restriction or not.

Most of the time this is done to keep cost even across the board. different territories can have different prices for games without people simply shopping cheapest.

Best option would be to replace the games that don't play. Modding the console would end up in it getting banned and useless for the games at all.
