I have been an xbox player since the original system came out. I purchased the XBOX ONE after Christmas of last year. Thinking that this was going to the next best I was super excited to start playing. I bought the system knowing that it is a highly
online based system but it is getting terrible. Now I do live in a rural area with the only internet available is Satellite based. Which I know sucks bad. But it is all I can get. That really doesn't bother me because I don't like to play games on-line.
Today Went to play Sniper Elite III. I put the game in and started to install it and things were going fine. It gets far enough were i could actually start playing the game and it pops up that I have to do a mandatory 19GB update. Seriously, 19GB. I
will never be able to play this game because because my internet date. I can deal with a couple GB but 19 come on. This is absolutely ridiculous. Not all gamers live in cities and towns with great Internet available. I know we are the minority but we
are still gamers and deserve to be able to play games.

    Please help us rural gamers!!!!

    :)

    Hi all!

So, after all these years the 360 has met it's match! Things have certainly come a long way and it was a fun ride all-the-while. How are you all feeling about the big changes?

Game and patch sizes have nothing to do with Xbox. As technology progresses, the amount of data that comprises a game will continue to grow. That's simply how big games are now. They have been that size on PC for years. If the data sizes are too much for
you, then you may just have to find a new hobby. I suggest hiking, or mountain biking, or knitting.

You do not have to install the update to play the game offline? Obviously it's better with the update as it enhances the game's performance but it is optional you can decline and then go on the single player still.

That update is bigger than some games. Yikes! I wonder why game updates are so big now when they seemed so miniscule on the 360. It's not like the games are that much bigger...yet.

I played Sniper Elite 3, but never without the patch. A friend of mine who tried it said it was broken, unplayable garbage. Which is entirely believable considering the size of the patch.

Then don't connect online. It won't download the patch.

But it's good that you realize that this isn't a huge issue for a lot of us. I mean 19GBs is really nothing nowadays and can be downloaded within 10 minutes. This is the direction the industry is headed. In your situation, I don't know what to say or what
advice to give. You'll find the same thing on the PS4 also.

  9. Is there any way to opt out of the patch and still play in multiplayer mode? My Xbox goes into an update install loop and gets stuck at preparing to download the update. Net connection is fine, everything else works except this one darned patch. It also
corrupted my previous install and now I've lost ALL my gamer stats etc for SE3 unhappy long time xbox user :(

You will need the patch to play multiplayer. If your previous saves and stuff has corrupted I'd suggest uninstalling the game and reinstalling everything from scratch. Try not to use the Xbox while the game installs. People will tell you it's fine to do
it but I've done it twice and both times I've had problems. Now I just put the disc in, let it install, install the patch all without using other games and apps while it does so. And now I never have problems.

  11. Sat based net services charge huge fees just for standard service, and for unlimited services (not speeds) it costs over 100 bucks a month.

For those with such limited services in the US, may I suggest optaining a good dc to ac converter and take your X1 to town. Hardees has wireless services that are often very good and just park in the parking lot, connect your X1 and then go inside, order
up, and set down and enjoy an hours long meal.

Some hospitals, and even clinics also have 10 mb or better UNlimited net service. So if your going for checkup. Take along you X1 or PS4 and have at it.
